🇷🇺 Putin at Russian Energy Week: Russia’s vision for energy challenges

In his address to Russian Energy Week, President Vladimir Putin outlined the key transformations shaping the global and domestic energy landscape.

Key points from his speech:

🔶Global energy restructuring: The world energy market is undergoing a shift in supply routes. The EU’s boycott of Russian energy resources has already hurt its economy.

🔶Oil production and OPEC+: Russia remains one of the world’s leading oil producers. The planned output reduction in 2025 is part of OPEC+ agreements, not external pressure.

🔶Redirection of gas exports: The sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines only accelerated the reorientation of Russia’s energy supply routes.

🔶Coal and data centers: Coal still plays a major role globally. Putin has told the government to explore using coal power facilities to supply data centers.

🔶Nuclear leadership: Rosatom controls about 90% of the global nuclear plant construction market. Russia plans to add 29 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity over the next 15 years, including small modular reactors.

🔶Full-cycle nuclear competence: Russia is the only country in the world with expertise across the entire nuclear energy chain.

🔶Technological independence: Western technologies may become inaccessible at any moment. Russian energy firms have made rapid progress in import substitution and domestic innovation.

🇷🇺 Russia supplies 17% of the global energy market

💬"Russia is a world leader, and today we supply about 17% of the global energy resources market to global energy markets. These include oil, petroleum products, and natural pipeline gas... This is coal, which is in demand despite all the seemingly pessimistic notes," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week forum.

🚨British and Ukrainian intelligence services preparing sabotage op against TurkStream – FSB “We have information that the British, together with Ukrainian intelligence, are preparing sabotage against the TurkStream gas pipeline,” FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov…
🪖💣 TurkStream in UK cross hairs: British intel services infamous for sabotage & terrorism – SVR veteran

The UK’s top priority is to defeat Russia in the conflict unfolding on the territory of the former Soviet Ukraine, Leonid Reshetnikov, retired lieutenant general of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), tells Sputnik.

💬 “To achieve this goal, every tool and tactic is on the table. The British have never hesitated to use even the most unethical methods of warfare. That’s what sets their intelligence services apart—provocations, terrorism, sabotage."

Such operations can even target their own allies if they’re seen as not doing enough in the fight against Russia, the intelligence veteran underscored.

Earlier, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) revealed that British and Ukrainian intelligence services are plotting sabotage against the TurkStream gas pipeline—the only remaining route for Russian gas deliveries to Europe.

Russia has already seen numerous covert operations involving British intelligence services, according to Reshetnikov:

Crimea Bridge attacks

Targeted assassinations

Operation Spider Web

Nord Stream sabotage

💬 "A similar operation could well be carried out against TurkStream—not necessarily at sea. It could happen at the entry point, exit point, anywhere," the pundit stresses, adding that the UK could also employ the resources of its NATO allies, including Bulgaria and Romania.

How could Turkiye react to TurkStream sabotage?

Two options are possible:

Turkiye could be offered something in exchange for keeping quiet

Turkiye might issue a formal expression of discontent

However, one shouldn’t expect a strong response from Turkiye, the pundit believes.

Russia’s response to potential British sabotage could range from actions within the framework of the special military operation in Ukraine to limiting British economic activities across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, according to Reshetnikov.

🗣 Politicized attempts to isolate Russian energy have collided with market realities - expert

🟠The West’s approach to energy since 2022 has revealed how quickly political motives can override the logic of markets,” political analyst and columnist Faisal Alshammeri told Sputnik, commenting on President Putin’s remarks on the price Europe is paying for quitting Russian energy imports.

💬 “What was once a global system built on interdependence and mutual benefit has become fragmented by sanctions, moral narratives, and emergency policy shifts,” Alshammeri explained.

🟠 “Excluding Russian oil from the global market is unrealistic,” the observer said, emphasizing that Russia’s 10% share of global oil production means “severe price shocks” if it somehow disappeared from the market.

📍 That’s not realistic, anyway, according to Alshammeri.

🟠 “Oil is a global, mobile commodity — sanctions only rerouted Russian exports toward Asia, especially China and India. Western producers lack the spare capacity and investment needed to fill the gap, while enforcement mechanisms like price caps lose power as trade shifts to non-dollar systems. In the end, political isolation of Russian oil collides with market reality: energy flows follow demand, not ideology.”

Europe shoots itself in the foot

👉 From the perspective of major non-Western energy players, producers and consumers alike, “the main conclusion” to be drawn from the West’s Russia-hostile energy policy is that it is “reactive and unpredictable,” Alshammeri said.

💬 “Decisions are increasingly guided by domestic political pressure and ideological goals, rather than by long-term security of supply. This unpredictability weakens confidence in Western partnerships and highlights the need for diversified routes, currencies, and alliances in the trade of energy and technology.”

🔊 “Values without realism cannot sustain economies,” the observer stressed, highlighting Europe’s turn to more costly imports, the reintroduction of coal and renewables’ slow pace.

🚨Hegseth to NATO: 'No free riders' on arming Ukraine The US is urging NATO allies to boost arms purchases for Ukraine under the PURL program, said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: 💬“Allies often say that Ukraine's security is synonymous with European security……
💵💣 PURL push: NATO pressures Europe to buy American arms for Ukraine

The North Atlantic Alliance wants all member states to join Trump’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) scheme, according to US media.

👉 While 20 NATO members have already supported the scheme, the rest are under pressure “to put your money where your mouth is.”

The PURL initiative stipulates that European countries purchase US-made weapons which are then transferred to Ukraine. Russia warns that such arms deliveries prolong the Ukraine conflict and constitute NATO direct involvement.

🗣 Russia’s successful flouting of West’s suicidal energy sanctions prevented a global recession - expert

👉 “Western sanctions have failed miserably to block Russian energy exports and cripple the Russian economy,” renowned oil economist and global energy expert Mamdouh G. Salameh told Sputnik, commenting on President Putin’s remarks on the reorientation of Russian oil and gas sales abroad.

“Russia is the world’s superpower of energy,” and “despite the most atrocious sanctions, it has managed to dominate the global energy scene in terms of its exports of oil, gas, coal and nuclear fuels, all of which are major cornerstones in global energy security,” Dr. Salameh said.

🟠 If the sanctions had succeeded, “we would have seen energy prices particularly oil and gas surge beyond the ability of the global economy to afford and causing global recession and inflation,” the observer explained.

🟠 Instead, the sanctions campaign’s initiators have turned out to be its biggest losers, Europe especially, Salameh stressed, pointing out that “rising oil and gas prices as a result of both sanctions and the Ukraine conflict have destroyed the EU’s industrial competitiveness and led to some de-industrialization in Europe’s biggest economy – Germany.”

🟠 The same applies to the Nord Stream sabotage attacks – which were designed to “to sever the EU’s dependence on the cheap and plentiful Russian piped gas and replace it with the far more expensive American LNG” (2-4 times the cost), leading “to a stagnating if not emaciated EU economy bleeding financially,” Dr. Salameh summed up.

🇲🇩Rutte just made it official: NATO is in 'close cooperation' with Moldova NATO chief Mark Rutte said there is close cooperation between NATO and Moldova, praising Maia Sandu’s leadership but refusing to share details: 💬“This is an open press conference…
🇬🇧 UK sends drone experts to Moldova as West deepens military involvement

🔶 The UK is dispatching a team of specialists to train Moldovan troops in counter-drone tactics amid what London calls the need to “ramp up our response to Russia’s aggression,” the Telegraph reports.

🔶 According to the Ministry of Defence, British personnel will arrive in Moldova — which borders Ukraine — later this month to assess and assist its armed forces.

🔶 Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has warned that the West is determined to keep Moldova in its anti-Russian orbit, exposing plans for “landing operations” rehearsed during NATO drills in Romania.

🔶 Following those warnings, Chisinau adopted a new 10-year military strategy which labelled Russia a national security threat and advocated closer cooperation with NATO. The plan includes raising defense spending to 1% of GDP by 2030.

🗣 Former president Igor Dodon called Moldova’s militarization part of an EU plan to turn the republic into “cannon fodder in a conflict with Russia.”

📍 He pointed to growing defense budgets, purchases of radar systems and armored vehicles from Germany and France as well as plans for a new military base near Chisinau.

💬 “Moldova is being positioned as a pawn against Russia,” Dodon said.
