Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for official explanations from Washington after a US strike hit a small boat off the Colombian coast on September 16.

Petro said the vessel was a Colombian fishing boat that had gone adrift with its engine raised — a common signal of mechanical failure. On board was fisherman Alejandro Carranza, whom Petro described as having “no links to narco” and whose “daily activity was fishing.”

The president also alerted Colombia’s Attorney General, urging immediate protection for the victim’s family and the option of joining international legal actions.

👉 Previously, law enforcement has resorted to using tear gas and rubber bullets; this time, their uses were not recorded, but at least four protesters were detained.

Up to 250,000 people attended the rally in the city center, one of the organizers of the anti-Trump protest in downtown Chicago earlier told RIA Novosti.
