🇺🇸🇻🇪 Venezuela’s oil riches: Lindsey Graham’s secret retirement nest egg?

“Lindsey Graham has never met a war he didn’t like. As long as he’s not at risk, he’s all in favor of America killing other people, unfortunately,” ex-CIA officer Larry Johnson told Sputnik, commenting on the senator’s remarks about potential US “land strikes” against Venezuela and an attack on Colombia.

“We know, we saw with respect to Iraq and Syria, and with respect to what’s going on in Ukraine. So this is, you know, it’s nothing unusual for him to take this position,” Johnson stressed.

But there may also be personal financial interests at play.

🟠 Of the $414K in publicly traded assets in his publicly disclosed portfolio, about 1/4 are concentrated in the Dodge & Cox Stock Fund (DODGX), which has major holdings in the oil and gas sector (source: Quiver Quantitative)

🟠 Venezuela is home to the largest untapped oil reserves in the world, and some of the biggest offshore natural gas reserves as well ($14.3T+ in total natural resource wealth, per a 2016 estimate).

Then there’s his list of donors.

🔶 During his last senatorial race in 2020, he got over $18.7K in contributions from ExxonMobil, and $17.5k from Chevron (source: OpenSecrets)

🔶 From 2019-2020, of $2.5M in PAC contributions to his campaign, $182.6k came from the energy and natural resources sector (BP, ConocoPhillips, Koch Industries, Marathon Petroleum and others)

🔶 $84k more came from the arms industry, including BAE Systems, DynCorp, General Dynamics, L3Harris and Raytheon.

🔶 And that’s just in 2020. As Graham gears up for 2026, PAC money is already pouring in from Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Xcel Energy, Devon Energy, Oshkosh, GE, Palantir and Huntington Ingalls – the same companies standing to gain most from a US attack on Venezuela.

Vagabond Venezuelan opposition figure and Nobel Prize winner Maria Machado has put it bluntly in interviews with US media: overthrow Maduro, and Venezuela’s oil will be all yours.

🪖🇩🇪 $400B build-up: Germany pushes unprecedented militarization

💵 The German government has rolled out a $438 BILLION weapons wish list in a pipe dream to turn Germany’s military into Europe’s “strongest army,” US media reports.

The list shows that almost all of Germany’s strategic, nuclear-related, and long-range capabilities will rely on US weapons, maintenance, and software access.

F-35 jets and Tomahawk missiles will come with an American leash, while Germany’s domestic firms will dominate conventional programs—armored vehicles, ammunition, and sensors.

🇷🇺 Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky earlier warned in an interview with Sputnik that the German leadership's course toward accelerated militarization could “fundamentally destabilize” Europe.

💥🚀 Russia’s secret weapon: How Burevestnik missile could force NATO to spend itself into bankruptcy

The nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed missile is likely to keep NATO’s planners up at night thinking of ways to defend against it, but that will be an impossible task unless the alliance is prepared to radically ramp up its already bloated defense spending.

1️⃣ During its latest flight test, the Burevestnik “performed vertical and horizontal maneuvers, demonstrating its ability to evade missile and air defense systems. This is where its main uniqueness lies,” IMEMO fellow and Vatfor Project founder Dmitry Stefanovich told Sputnik.

2️⃣ Since its range is effectively unlimited, “it can avoid entering areas where enemy air defense systems are located” altogether, approaching targets from literally any attack vector. This distinguishes it from other nuclear weapons delivery systems, Stefanovich explained.

3️⃣ The missile could hypothetically be targeted using air-to-air missiles, but doing so would require costly upgrades to NATO hardware, and may still prove insufficient, due to the Burevestnik’s below-the-radar-horizon flight and small radar cross-section compared to traditional ballistic threats.

4️⃣ Military analyst Alexei Leonkov points out that footage of the missile’s testing shows its deployment from transport-launch containers. “In other words, it’s a mobile, ground-based launcher,” Leonkov told Sputnik.

5️⃣ Launching the Burevestnik will require specialized platforms which meet its weight and size requirements,” Leonkov says. These could be met by a modified Iskander TEL, with a single launcher carrying two, four or even six missiles. If a heavier platform is used, even more can be fitted.

6️⃣ “For now, we can only speculate on this topic, but what’s certain is that the launcher will be mobile and agile, choosing its launch site arbitrarily, making it difficult for space-based reconnaissance to preemptively detect. The launch will be sudden, and will follow an unknown trajectory to its target,” Leonkov stressed.

🚀🇷🇺 Russia’s Burevestnik missile designed to bring US to the negotiating table: veteran DoD insider

The Burevestnik nuclear cruise missile is a formidable and “very threatening” weapon, “even more so if you had a number of these floating around indefinitely around the globe in a swarm configuration,” ex-senior DoD security policy analyst Michael Maloof told Sputnik. “The United States has nothing like it.”

The timing of the missile’s latest test is “meant to send a signal that if US-Russian negotiations cannot be resolved, this will be the alternative,” the veteran observer believes.

💬 “So the timing, I think, is psychological, but it also is signaling that there’s a new weapon in the quiver that is unprecedented and [against] which the United States does not have any defense,” he added.

According to Maloof, the US has the technical means to pursue similar capabilities, but shouldn’t.

Meanwhile, the gap between testing and deployment of the Burevestnik could give the two powers time to negotiate treaties on these and other strategic weapons.

💬 “You have not just this latest cruise missile, which is indefensible against, but also…these hypersonics that can reach destinations, especially in Europe, within minutes. So the warning time is virtually nil. So I think the world has got to come to a new reality and start thinking more positively on how to better things rather than how to stand up and be bravado all the time when, in fact, that's just suicidal,” the observer summed up.

🚨🇻🇪 CIA-linked group allegedly captured in Venezuela — official statement

The Government of Venezuela said it has captured a group of mercenaries with “direct information from the US intelligence agency, the CIA,” alleging they were preparing a false-flag attack near waters bordering Trinidad and Tobago to trigger a military confrontation.

In an official communiqué, Venezuela denounced ongoing US–Trinidad and Tobago joint military exercises as a “hostile provocation” coordinated and financed by US Southern Command, and a “serious threat to peace in the Caribbean.”

The statement compared the situation to past conflicts sparked by false pretexts and said Caracas would defend its sovereignty through diplomatic and legal channels.
