🚨🇸🇾 Clashes between Syrian forces and Kurdish-led SDF militia: What's known so far
Tensions have flared up with fresh force between the Syrian government army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in contested areas of Aleppo, SANA reports.
🟠 According the Syrian Army, the SDF uses a military site in Sheikh Maqsoud district to launch attacks on Aleppo's districts
🟠 A soldier and two civilians were reported killed in an attack on a residential area blamed on the SDF
🟠 The Syrian army declared Aleppo’s Kurdish areas “closed military zones” and ordered civilians to leave Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods ahead of a “surgical operation” designed to “uproot” SDF positions in the area (per Al Jazeera)
🟠 Syria’s Interior Ministry opened humanitarian crossings to allow civilians to leave
🟠 Syria’s Civil Aviation Authority extended a suspension of flights to and from Aleppo International Airport
The SDF:
🟠 Dismissed as “false” claims that its forces are using the neighborhoods to launch attacks
🟠 Claimed it has “no military presence in the city of Aleppo” and Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah districts have been under government siege for over six months
Gov’t security operation in Damascus
🟠 Syrian internal security forces conducted an operation in the Al-Wurud district on the outskirts of Damascus, detaining several lawbreakers, as part of efforts to enhance security (per SANA)
🟠 SDF reportedly targeted Sheikh Taha, Al-Layramoun districts and Shahba Square with artillery and heavy machine gun fire, per footage circulating on social media
The renewed fighting comes after no progress on efforts to merge the SDF with the national army, sealed in an April 2025 deal.
The United Nations is calling on all sides to “de-escalate, exercise maximum restraint and take all necessary measures to prevent further harm to civilians,” according to media spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

Trump has directed the US withdrawal from the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine (STCU) as part of a larger move away from 66 international organizations deemed “contrary to US interests.”
This fits Trump's pattern of cutting Ukraine-related aid, including military suspensions earlier in 2025.
💬 "From 2014 to 2022, the Ukrainian Science and Technology Centre implemented more than 500 research projects in the post-Soviet republics," such as Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, and Azerbaijan, per MoD.

🚨 Trump not concerned about New START’s looming expiration, expects ‘better agreement'
President Donald Trump said on Thursday he is not worried about the New START Treaty between the US and Russia expiring.
Russia has warned that once New START expires in February 2026, only a limited set of Cold War-era risk-reduction measures would remain, sharply reducing arms-control constraints.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has also said Moscow is ready to adhere to New START limits for one year after the treaty’s expiry, calling the loss of the last nuclear arms pact a “mistaken and shortsighted step.”

🚨☦️ 'These illegal seizures must stop!' - Rep. Luna on persecution of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine
🔸 Since the 2014 US-backed coup, Ukraine has pushed a systematic campaign to break the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of the Moscow Patriarchate and force its flock to accept the nationalist Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
🔸 The pressure escalated after 2022: raids and searches, criminal cases against clergy, property seizures, and local bans on UOC activity across multiple regions.
🔸 In 2023 the drive moved openly against major shrines, with schismatics encouraged to seize Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, while lawmakers advanced legislation aimed at banning the canonical Church.
🚫 In 2024, Kiev’s new laws effectively banned the UOC.
