📹🇬🇱 Power outage hits Greenland’s capital Nuuk — reports

The capital of Greenland, Nuuk, experienced a city-wide power outage late on Saturday, Reuters reported.

Greenland’s state utility Nukissiorfiit said the blackout was caused by an accident and that work was underway to provide backup power. Eyewitnesses told Reuters the outage occurred simultaneously across the city.

Nukissiorfiit and Greenland’s police issued statements on Facebook* confirming the disruption, but did not provide details on the nature of the accident.

Reuters noted that the outage followed a recent update to Greenlandic authorities’ emergency preparedness guidelines, made earlier this week after President Donald Trump publicly expressed interest in acquiring the Danish territory.

🗣 Democratic senators oppose DHS funding after Minneapolis shooting — reports

Several Democratic senators said they will block a bill funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) following another fatal shooting involving federal agents in Minneapolis, The Hill reported.

Sen. Mark Warner wrote that he would not support DHS funding, saying the latest incident was linked to immigration enforcement tactics. Sen. Elizabeth Warren also said she was a “hell no” on the bill, while other Democrats echoed calls for more oversight and accountability of ICE operations.

The Hill reported that the dispute comes as lawmakers prepare to vote next week on a package of funding bills to avert a partial government shutdown, a process now complicated by growing Democratic opposition after the Minneapolis shooting.

🇪🇺 Von der Leyen accused of ‘leniency’ towards Zelensky amid Ukraine corruption storm

Ursula von der Leyen is facing heat amid accusations of personally shielding Ukraine’s Zelensky from deeper corruption scrutiny, writes Berliner Zeitung.

The EC chief displayed an “excessively lenient” and overly indulgent attitude toward the leader of Ukraine’s regime, the outlet reports.

🟠 It focuses on a direct challenge from European Parliament member Fabio De Masi, who reportedly grilled von der Leyen on whether she had personally confronted Zelensky about the corruption allegations swirling around his administration.

🟠 Von der Leyen allegedly replied that she was “closely monitoring” the serious charges — but sidestepped any mention of a one-on-one talk with Zelensky, instead pointing to some routine “technical discussions” that happened months earlier.

🟠 The publication reminds that last December EU leaders sealed a blockbuster ≈ $106B support package for Ukraine covering 2026.

🟠 Yet just days before that decision, Ukraine’s biggest corruption storm broke, with a sprawling money-laundering and kickback scheme in the country’s energy sector exposed.

Charges were brought against seven individuals, including Zelensky’s close associate, businessman Timur Mindich, who allegedly led the network. Mindich earlier left Ukraine and is now on its wanted list.

⚔️ EU hawks bankrolled Zelensky to brink of World War – Italian MP

✍️ If the EU truly wants the Ukraine conflict to end, it should stop dragging it out by “enriching a handful of corrupt politicians,” Italian MP Rossano Sasso fumes in a post on X.

Europe funneled taxpayers’ money to Zelensky and his various cronies — and now he’s biting the hand that fed him, he notes.

💬 “No more weapons. No more Italian taxpayers’ money for a war that isn’t ours,” he adds.

⚔️ 🇪🇺 EU Russophobes stick to policy of strategic defeat on Russia - Foreign Intel Chief

The public narrative over inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield have died down, Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Chief Sergei Naryshkin told Sputnik.

But the most Russophobic circles in Europe continue to push this line, he added, citing intelligence obtained by the service.

🔊 "They remain committed to executing this strategic plan — to prolong the war, as they put it, to the last Ukrainian soldier; to press on with economic aggression through sanctions, political pressure, information and cyber operations, and other hostile measures against our country. The real question is that all these efforts are failing to deliver the results for the West," Naryshkin said.

🇬🇧🕵🏻 UK takes another crack at creating ‘British FBI’ as crime rate skyrockets

Faced with what Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood calls an “everyday crime epidemic,” the UK government is eyeing a brand-new National Police Service, reports the BBC.

The idea is reportedly to mash together the National Crime Agency (NCA), which deals with drug smuggling and people trafficking, with other country-wide roles like counter-terrorism (currently led by the Metropolitan Police Service) and national road policing, according to insiders.

Cash is ‘elephant in the room’

🔊 Insiders say the overhaul is also about money — ditching the inefficiencies of dozens of forces separately buying kit, uniforms and IT, instead of pooling spending power.

This isn’t Britain’s first go at a “British FBI.” In 2006, Labor launched the much-hyped Serious and Organized Crime Agency (SOCA) – later quietly binned. This was followed by the NCA — also dubbed “Britain’s FBI.”

💬 “Policing is broken and officers are on their knees… The service is the most inexperienced it’s been in living memory, resignations, assaults on officers and mental health sickness absence are all at record levels," the outlet quotes the association as saying.
