Event with the Solidarity Circle Justice for Mouhamed (Dortmund) and the Initiative 2. Mai (Mannheim) Police violence against people with experience of racism is systematic in Germany: they are among the victims of fatal police shootings, fatal operations and death in custody with above-average frequency.

In around three quarters of these cases, the victims were in an exceptional psychological situation; an additional risk factor is the social exclusion of those affected by poverty. In the public narrative following a fatal police operation, the police often trivialize the violence and justify it by reversing the perpetrator-victim narrative.

Investigations in such cases rarely lead to charges being brought against the perpetrators, and convictions are even rarer. This is why it is particularly important that several court cases involving lethal police violence are currently taking place with the support of trial counselors.


In Dortmund, the criminal trial began in December against five police officers who used pepper spray and Tasers to attack the young refugee Mouhamed Lamine Dramé from Senegal on 8 August 2022 and ultimately killed him with five shots from a submachine gun.

The gunman must therefore answer for manslaughter, three officers for causing grievous bodily harm in the line of duty and the officer in charge for incitement. Since January, two police officers have been on trial in Mannheim who overpowered Ante P. with pepper spray and punches on 2 May 2022, held him prone on the ground, handcuffed him and - according to an expert opinion from the forensic medicine department in Heidelberg - suffocated him in the process.

In Dortmund and Mannheim, the solidarity groups are also supporting the victims' relatives' joint action. They are demanding justice for those killed and consequences for the perpetrators. At the event in SO36, they will report on the first days of the trial, the defence strategy of the accused and their experiences as trial companions in solidarity.

In addition, political demands will be discussed in order to effectively combat lethal police violence.

Keine Abschiebung in die Türkei!

Metin Özyolcu soll gerade von der deutschen Polizei in die Türkei abgeschoben werden. Von dort ist der Kurde wegen politischer Verfolgung geflohen, seine Auslieferung ist damit eine Auslieferung an das Regime von Erdogan. Die Abschiebung soll scheinbar schnell durchgeführt werden: Heute morgen wurde er in der Ausländerbehörde bei einem Termin festgenommen und ist jetzt im Berliner Flughafen (BER).

Ihm bleibt nur eine möglichst große Öffentlichkeit - Metin Özyolcu darf nicht abgeschoben werden!
