At a World Economic Forum discussion, Matthew Liao openly suggested using "human engineering" to reduce meat consumption by inducing allergies to meat.
Liao argued that people are unwilling to give up meat voluntarily, so biological interventions could be used to make humans intolerant to certain animal proteins in order to "help the planet."
Liao referenced the Lone Star tick, which can cause a red-meat allergy in humans after a bite, and described this
