The Pentagon is about to ask Congress for an estimated $50 billion in extra funds for the war on Iran. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Reuters
Five days have passed since the start of the US operation Epic Fury to overthrow the current Iranian political regime and destroy its military and nuclear capabilities. However, not only have US objectives not been met, but Iran continues to show resilience and responsiveness, suggesting that it has prepared for a long war of attrition.
The US government is forced to request money to continue a war that will last months, rather than a week-long operation, after failing to meet its objectives. Meanwhile, its allies in the Gulf are suffering the direct consequences of seeing their infrastructure destroyed, their energy production reduced, their economies damaged and their dependence on Washington for military capabilities exposed.
The winners are the US military industry, which sees a long war with Iran as a new opportunity to increase its revenues and, in the event of an Iranian defeat, the possibility of expanding its markets into the Persian region.🇺🇸

How sad and humiliating it must be for Washington & POTUS to resort to lies (return of military cooperation) when it is unable to convince Spain to let them use its bases.
You had to kill a Spanish president in 1973 who also refused to let you use the bases during Yom Kippur just to change the situation. Cowards.

After the first five days of the US operation Epic Fury against Iran, there are still no signs of a collapse of the Iranian political regime. In fact, the continuous bombing and hundreds of civilian deaths have caused Iranian social sectors opposed to or critical of the political regime to close ranks around national defence or adopt a passive stance. The prolongation of the conflict will only cause the Iranian political regime to become more entrenched and hardened, leaving little room for internal rebellion.
That is why the United States is preparing a new phase of the war in which it will exploit one of Iran's natural pillars: its cultural diversity.
Specifically, the Kurds, who have traditionally played an instrumental role in US interests in the region for decades, could play an important role in creating a ground front against Iranian forces. On the one hand, Washington is in talks with Kurdish militias in Iraq to launch a ground operation in the Kurdish-majority provinces of Iran. On the other hand, the US and Israel have been destroying military infrastructure in these regions, which could facilitate the development of these militias' operation in a population that has had a controversial relationship with Tehran, between agreed and regulated integration and systematic repression at various times since 1979.

The Kurds would see this operation as an opportunity to create an autonomous or federal entity in Iranian Kurdistan similar to the one in Iraq, in a hypothetical scenario in which a new political regime in Iran would guarantee them greater recognition.
However, a Kurdish armed rebellion would face several challenges. On the one hand, the Kurdish population, which accounts for approximately 10% of the Iranian population, would be divided between supporters and detractors due to the historical guerrilla activity of the PKK and PJAK, which has damaged the image of Kurdish political candidates who have fought for improved conditions for Kurds in the Islamic Republic of Iran. On the other hand, even with US and Israeli support, Kurdish militias would have to face the Persians, an ethnic group representing about 60% of the population, which would be heavily armed after a general mobilisation and would confront any insurgency or invading force in a vast and mountainous terrain.
Furthermore, the fate of the Kurds in Syria raises serious doubts for the Kurdish movement regarding its relationship with the United States, which has failed to deliver on its own project despite years of sacrifice in its fight against terrorism. A defeat of a Kurdish operation in Iran could damage the already weak relations between the STG and the SDF in the midst of an integration agreement that could be broken by the loss of trust and anti-Kurdish resentment among Syrian Arabs.
Furthermore, as Iraq is the launch point for a hypothetical Kurdish operation in Iran, its failure could damage relations between Iran and Iraq, which could force Baghdad to take the decision to launch a future operation against Kurdish guerrillas, in which there is a possibility that Turkey could become involved, damaging the image of Iraqi Kurds as well.
Negotiations between the United States and the Kurds continue, with no cross-border movement yet underway, but in the coming days we could see the start of this new phase and with it an intensification of the conflict.
