Academic Preference Instructions and Schedule
For the 2017 E.C. First-Year Students!

#Instructions for Submitting Preferences
To submit your academic preferences, follow these steps:
Log in to portal.aau.edu.et and access your homepage.
You will find a list of disciplines available under each college and institute.
Rank your preferred disciplines/programs by assigning numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) in the preference form.
Ensure you enter the correct number in front of each program.

#Important Notes:
Preferences must be submitted online via portal.aau.edu.et.
If you need assistance, visit the nearest registrar’s office, where a clerk can help you submit your preferences. You must have a username and password to access the portal.
If you fail to submit your preferences before the deadline (February 25–26, 2025), the placement system will automatically assign you to a program without considering your choices.
Students interested in Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Pharmacy are expected to sit for entrance exam.

#February 25–26, 2025
Students submit their preferences online.

The number of students eligible for the entrance exam will be determined by the respective colleges.

#The registrar will screen eligible candidates among applicants who selected Medicine, Dental Medicine, or Pharmacy as their first choice, based on their academic results (EUEE score and First Semester GPA), to determine who may sit for the entrance exam.

#February 27, 2025
The list of candidates eligible for the entrance exam will be communicated to the college of health sciences.
February 28, 2025

The College of Health Sciences administers the entrance exam for MD, DDM and pharmacy applicants.
March 3–4, 2025

#Colleges of Health Sciences notify the registrar of students who passed the selection criteria:
EUEE (35%) + First Semester GPA (35%) + Entrance Exam (30%)
Successful candidates are placed in the Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy.

#Candidates who do not pass the entrance exam will be reassigned based on their results and preferences:

EUEE (50%) + First Semester GPA (50%)
March 5, 2025
The registrar places all remaining students based on:
EUEE (50%) + First Semester GPA (50%)
March 5-7, 2025

The Registrar will handle complaints regarding placements

#March 7, 2025
Second-semester registration begins.

#March 10, 2025
Second-semester classes commences.

#Self-Sponsored Students’ placement

Self-sponsored students who have already secured placement in a program do not need to submit preferences.
Those students without assigned programs must complete the online preference form.

#Those temporarily assigned to the School of Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy and Law must take the entrance exam and get the passing marks to secure their placement.

#Additional Information
Gender-Based Affirmative Action:
20% of total seats in all programs are allocated to female students.
For the Colleges of Health Sciences (CHS) and Law & Governance Studies (CLGS), affirmative action applies both before and after the entrance exam.

#Disability and Disadvantaged Regions Affirmative Action:
Applies to all programs except Medicine and Dental Medicine.
Cases of Inter-departmental transfer
There will not be inter-departmental transfer for this semseter.  Transfer will be effected on the second year, which will be on 2025/26 academic year.

የአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርስቲ ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ የህክምና ትምህርት ቤት በቅድመ ምረቃ ያሰለጠናቸውን 179 ተማሪዎች እያስመረቀ ይገኛል።

ከተመራቂዎች መካከል 153 ተማሪዎች በሜዲካል ዶክትሬት፣ 21 ተማሪዎች በጥርስ ህክምና እና 23 ተማሪዎች ደግሞ በአኔስቴዥያ ድግሪ ትምህርታቸውን ሲከታተሉ የቆዩ ናቸው።

Notice to Students who applied to join the Bachelor of Laws Degree Program

1. The Entrance Exam for admission to the Bachelor of Laws degree program will be administered on Tuesday, 04 March 2025 in the afternoon, starting 2:00 pm (8 o’clock local time).
2. All students who intend to join the Bachelor of Laws degree program (applicants for inter-department transfer as well as freshman students – including those admitted as law students at the time of admission to the University at the beginning of the year) are required to sit for the Entrance Exam.
3. Please note that the University follows a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ on exam cheating and students caught in such schemes will be dealt with seriously, including dismissal for good from the University. We will take extra precautions to check the identity of individuals entering the exam rooms as examinee.
4. When coming to the exam room, bring only your student ID card and your original EUEE (Grade 12) Certificate. Do not bring any electronic devices (cell
phone, smart watches, earphone, tablet, USB sticks or other file storage device, etc.) as well as notebooks or pieces of papers. Strict body search will be conducted by security personnel before you enter into the exam rooms.
5. Arrive at your designated exam room 15 minutes before the exam start time (2:00 pm (8 o’clock local time)).

To All First Year Regular Undergraduate Students
(2017 entry students)

Welcome to the second semester of the academic year!

Please note that Registration Date is Friday, March 07, 2025.

To ensure a smooth registration process, please follow this guide which provides instructions on how to process your second-semester registration and registration locations for those who change campuses due to your placement.

1. Check your placement status on the portal.

2. If your placement is in one of the following programs, visit the College or Department you are placed to request course approval from your academic advisor.

• School of Law
• School of Medicine
• School of Dental Medicine
• School of Pharmacy
• Department of Computer Sciences
• School of Information Systems
• Pre-Engineering (AAiT and EiABC)
• College of Verterinary Medicine and Agriculture (Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Laboratory Technology)

(Please note that this step does not apply to students in Other Social Sciences, Other Natural Sciences, or Other Health Sciences.)

3. Register for your second-semester courses on the portal using the campus networks of AAU.

4. Self-sponsored students use Telebirr to settle your first installation payment for the semester.

5. Obtain a final approval for your registration from your College Registrar's Office.

6. Check your assigned section on the portal.

7. Check your college noticeboard for your class schedule.

Notice
• New Campus Assignments: Students assigned to a new campus must contact the college’s student service office to complete clearance forms and access new dormitory and cafeteria facilities.

• Online Registration: All students must complete the portal registration to be assigned to a section. Failure to do so may result in difficulties in attending classes and course assessment entry by the instructors.

• NG Grade(s) on Semester I course(s): Students who did not receive program placement due to “NG” grades should:

o Appeal to the College Academic Affairs Office to process the “NG” case per AAU SL (2024) Articles 95.4 – 95.7 and 104.

o After resolving the grade issue, the Vice Dean should request for program placement to the Main Registrar's Office.

Classes will begin on Monday, March 10, 2025

👉🏿 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Laboratory Technology students - College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture @ Bishoftu Campus.
