⚡️Arabic sources:
Syrian security forces in Damascus arrested Emirati political activist Jasem Rashid Al-Shamsi on Thursday, November 6, 2025, without a warrant or charges and took him to an unknown location.
Al-Shamsi had moved from Turkey to Syria with his Syrian wife and five children, the eldest aged 21. The Syrian government allowed his stay on the condition that he avoid political or media activity, which he accepted.
There are growing fears the arrest came under pressure from the UAE regime, known for abducting dissidents such as Abdulrahman bin Subaih Al-Suwaidi (in Indonesia) and Khalaf bin Abdulrahman Al-Rumaithi (in Jordan).
