Ukrainian Armed Forces continue shelling civilian areas of Donetsk

Head of Donetsk city administration Alexey Kulemzin on shelling of the city:

▪️The situation in the city is steadily grave. Last week there were 61 shellings. Five of the city's nine districts were hit. Six people were killed and 26 wounded. Ukrainians are hitting social infrastructure facilities. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a hospital in the Kuibyshev district, four schools, two hospitals, pharmacies, markets and shops.

▪️Mining by "Petals" continues. A total of 80 civilians have been blown up by the deadly shells.

▪️Donetsk citizens are preparing for the heating season. Houses and social facilities are being systematically filled with heat. There is no water supply in the city. The shelling of power supply facilities also continues.

Russia says the West has 'essentially stolen' its foreign currency and gold reserves as the EU eyes asset transfer to Ukraine

Russia accused the West of stealing from Moscow's currency and gold reserves on Monday thanks to sanctions that froze Russian assets. 

In a statement to reporters discussing the prospect of the European Union's proposal to transfer the frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said "a part large of our assets have been essentially stolen by specific Western countries."

The Western sanctions have blocked Russian access to roughly $640 billion worth cash and gold reserves in response to the Kremlin's February 24 invasion of Ukraine. Other US allies followed suit earlier this year, freezing $30 billion worth of assets held by Russian oligarchs in concert with $300 billion in Russian central bank funds. 

The European Union is also considering transferring the Russian cash and gold to Ukraine, drawing criticism from the Kremlin. 

In response to the accusations that our warnings about Ukrainian provocations often fail to materialize, we urged to look at this situation from a different angle: perhaps they fail because we warn about them in time and foil Ukrainian plans. We will be glad if that happens this time, too, with the "dirty bomb".

The UN Security Council today held the closed meeting we requested on the possible creation of a "dirty bomb" by Ukraine.

The day before, we had sent a letter to the UN Secretary General detailing this. We named specific places and enterprises that had been instructed to build a bomb. At the meeting, we developed this topic, recalling the irresponsible statements and actions of the Kiev regime, for which a provocation using a "dirty bomb" would make it possible to prevent Western assistance to Ukraine from weakening, including military assistance, and ideally to achieve a direct military clash between NATO and Russia in Ukraine.

Our Western colleagues were predictably critical of our findings. For them, everything we say and claim is "Russian propaganda", everything Kiev says is the truth in the last resort. We are already used to this here. The most adequate thesis we have heard is - can Ukraine conceive of something that will lead to radioactive contamination of its own territory?

To this we urged our colleagues not to hope that the Kiev regime is guided by common sense or concern for its own citizens. If it were, it would not be regularly shelling the Zaporizhzhya NPP, creating a direct risk of nuclear catastrophe and radioactive contamination not only of its own territory but also of a large part of Europe. The main task of Zelensky's regime is to stay in power and avoid a military defeat by Russia. For this it needs unflagging Western support, or better still, direct military intervention by NATO. A massive tragedy or Russia's alleged use of nuclear weapons is an excellent method of achieving these objectives.

We have requested two more meetings this week which will be of relevance to Ukraine in one way or another.

On Wednesday 26th October, at approximately 23.30 Moscow time, there will be a meeting on the demand by some Western countries for the UN Secretariat to investigate allegations that we are using Iranian drones in that country. We believe that the Secretariat has no such authority and intend to prove it.

There is a meeting on US biolaboratories in Ukraine on Thursday 27 October at 22.00 Moscow time. It is time to move on to the practical steps called for in the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention.
