Good news, followed by a question mark? Bullshit, until it happens. I and everyone in Donbass will be glad to see it, when it comes, but we're not holding our breath quite yet.

❗️Kiev Forces on Brink of MAJOR DEFEAT? Ukraine on verge of losing key battleground - Here are FIVE REASONS why Bakhmut is important
A stronghold of Kiev's frontline since the start of the conflict, reports suggest Bakhmut is about to fall. Why is it a game-changer?
📍Transport superiority: Bakhmut contains a highway which links both Donetsk and Lugansk - marking a vital supply chain route for either force holding the territory
📍Ukraine's fiercest, battle-hardened units to fall? Reports suggest many are already on the retreat, but a victory for Russia would deal a heavy blow to Kiev's morale
📍Winter Frontlines Shifting: No easy task in the best of weather, but with temperatures dropping well below freezing - Russia could be provided a chance to take out key supply lines and equipment
📍Strategic shelling point lost? Ukraine would lose ground which puts them in range for shelling behind Russian lines
📍Salt of the Earth: The city sits on a vast salt mine

One from the olden days... Another case of being just too feckin' far ahead of my time. This dude makes a vid about "Overnight in the Loneliest House on Earth", 3 months ago, gets 5.5 million views. https://youtu.be/dTqVocrDoy0
I did it 15 years ago... Three Fingers, Cascade Mountains, Washington.
We even brought some Bud, and some beer. And yes, it was a very tough and dangerous climb. Good vid, worth watching, especially the second half, even if the dudes who made the vid are a bunch of hipster sissies and have no clue and no respect for the place they are. So it goes in the 21st century...

Looks like the Russians got it backwards again...
From January 1, 2023, tariffs for housing and communal services have increased in the DPR and LPR.
On average, the size of a receipt for housing and communal services in 2023 will increase by 20% in the DPR and by 17% in the LPR. Regional authorities unanimously motivate this increase for two reasons. Firstly, the fact that in the republics the tariffs are 2-2.5 times lower than in the neighboring Rostov region. Secondly, the fact that the size of the increase is always set in relation to the growth of citizens' incomes - the minimum wage (SMIC) and the minimum pension. Since joining the Russian Federation, minimum wages have been increased in the DPR by 58%, in the LPR - by 49%.
The message that in 2023 the regime of free water supply to the population will continue in connection with the idle canal "Seversky Donets-Donbass" looks mocking. But for those who receive water from artesian wells, the tariff will increase by 5 rubles per 1 cubic meter. meter. They reassure that the process of equalizing tariffs with other regions of the Russian Federation will be divided into 10 years, and the next increase will be in July 2024.
I have a feeling that the integration of the republics started from the wrong side. Do those who initiated the tariff hike know that people in the Donbas have been living for many years without water and heat under shelling and burying their loved ones every day? Accepted to Russia and raised tariffs ...
Integrating new regions must begin with ensuring the safety of people. Then to equalize the standard of living, wages, food prices, which are much higher than those in Rostov with significantly lower incomes. And then, of course, it will be possible to raise tariffs.

Kadyrov and Pregozin both (correctly) called Lapin a total fuckup. He was removed from command after his failures near Kharkov and Izium. I can't believe he could be reinstated. He now has an administrative job, not military command. Here's what Oleg Tsarev wrote about him today -
"Previously, Lapin led the Center group. However, due to failures at the front, he was severely criticized by the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov, who called him "incompetent", and the head of the Wagner PMC, Prigozhin. The media wrote that because of this, Lapin was removed from command, and then that he wrote a letter of resignation.
Let me remind you that it was under his command that our troops suffered a heavy defeat near Balakleya and Izyum, carried out the very “regrouping” from the Kharkov region, as a result of which our troops not only suffered losses, but also left many cities and people.
This is the same Lapin who, on camera, awarded his own son with the Zhukov medal for the offensive / retreat from Sumy and Chernigov. The plot was shown exactly at the time when our troops were leaving these regions."

More on Lapin from Tsarev -
"The reality with Lapin's new appointment is such that it does not correspond to either Strelkov's lamentations or the enthusiasm of his loyalist haters ("well, did you get it, critics?")
This, of course, is not an honorary retirement pension, as some people try to make it out to be. But at the same time, he was removed from the combat leadership of the troops.
Now he is responsible for the general condition of the ground forces, but this is something other than the command of the fronts."

Ukrops planning a Spring offensive. So are we. Much depends on who moves first and more efficiently.
From Oleg Tsarev today - "I read that by the spring of this year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to create three army corps with a strength of 75,000 people. They are armed with NATO heavy equipment (infantry fighting vehicles from the USA and Germany, heavy wheeled armored vehicles from France, artillery from Italy, etc.). There are two important points about this information. First, a large number. Given that out of a total of 75,000, 15,000 people are trained by the European Union and at least 10,000 by the UK. And secondly, a new structural organization of the Ukrainian army. Until now, the brigade has been the main combat unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but now the corps is becoming it.
Since an offensive by corps is more effective than in brigades due to a simpler system of managing a single command, greater coordination, we can make an unambiguous conclusion about the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for an offensive campaign in the spring of 2023.
At the end of December, at the final meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defense, structural changes were also announced in our army. Moreover, similar ones: the actual abandonment of the BTG concept (battalion tactical groups, on average 5-7 thousand people) and the return to the concept of large formations - divisions (10-15 thousand people) were announced. It was decided to include in each combined arms and tank army an aviation division and an army aviation brigade, including from 80 to 100 combat helicopters. This decision reflects the intention to radically improve the interaction between the aerospace forces (VKS) and the ground forces.
Correct decisions. And now much will depend on which of the parties to the conflict implements them faster and more efficiently."

Too Little Too Late From WaPo Admitting Russian Trolls Had ‘Little Influence,’ Critics Say
The Washington Post’s analysis of a Monday report admitting Russian “trolls” had little influence on the US presidential election in 2016 - contrary to the newspaper’s reporting at the time which won them a Pulitzer Prize - has been panned for coming so late.
“Russiagate was - and is - one of the most deranged and unhinged conspiracy theories in modern times. It wasn't spread by QAnon or 4Chan users but the vast majority of media corporations, ‘scholars,’ think tank frauds, and NYT/NBC's ‘disinformation units’,” wrote Glenn Greenwald.
"It kind of seems that Hillary and our media are running out of excuses for why she lost other than she was one of the worst candidates in modern history," The Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller joked.
