"CNN writes, citing senior military officials, that Ukrainian forces have begun conducting operations in preparation for a counteroffensive against Russia.

They write that offensive preparation operations involve striking weapons depots, command centers, armored vehicles and artillery systems in order to prepare the battlefield for the advancing forces. This is a standard tactic used before major offensive operations.

They recall that last summer there was a lightning-fast ground attack in Kharkiv without much preparation, but in the Kherson region, Ukraine launched attacks on bridges, ammunition depots and command centers. Most of them were performed using HIMARS. There were also several airstrikes.

The US official believes that these preparatory operations could continue for many days before the main part of any planned Ukrainian offensive. By the way, another of their goals is to confuse our military leadership.

It is obvious that this is what is happening. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are touching the front in different directions, raising the degree of tension in the Internet space. Plus, you need to understand that they received long-range missiles, they have been spending missiles for HIMARS quite economically lately - strikes using these means will mean the final stage of preparation."

Очевидно, что так и происходит. ВСУ трогают фронт на разных направлениях, взвинчивают градус напряжения в интернет-пространстве. Плюс надо понимать, что они получили дальнобойные ракеты, они довольно экономно расходовали ракеты к HIMARS последнее время – удары с применением этих средств и будут означать завершающую стадию подготовки.

If you ran away, build new defensive lines. The defensive measures that you've prepared for defense are not something that can actually be used to defend. It's simply pathetic. About those points: Surovikin's been assigned to us; flanks were taken over in such manner, that it shouldn't have happened to begin with; ammo was not provided; and regarding the point about treason: does this rule apply only to the PMC Wagner, or does it apply to the military leadership, whose actions led to the flanks were abandoned? Who will answer for treason? That's the question. Copy of battle orders is available for the court proceedings."

Most people do not understand that Bakmut is in a river valley, surrounded by hills about 600 feet higher than the city. The positions that the Russians abandoned were on top of those hills. Fighting uphill is some of, if not THE, hardest kind of combat there is. Wagner had to fight uphill to take those strategic heights, entrusted those hard-won positions to Russian military, and they literally walked away and gave them back to the ukrops. A gross betrayal. Below is the English translation from Wagner -
"The units of the RF Armed Forces have lost tactical heights and retreated in the direction of the Berkhovskoye reservoir, which is located in a lowland.

Опорный пункт ВСУ, проходивший через трассу Бахмут — Часов Яр, которые сначала заняли «вагнера», а потом утратили военные, находился на высоте 190 метров. Берег Берховского водохранилища, к которому отошли подразделения ВС РФ — на 110 метрах. Итого перепад — 80 метров.

Таким образом, ВСУ сейчас находятся в выгодном тактическом положении, что позволяет им вести разведку и эффективно применять любые виды вооружения.

Wagner holds Bakmut, as of now, but developments yesterday, the betrayal of Wagner on its flanks (and above all, in Moscow) can very quickly lead not only to the encirclement and total destruction of Wagner, but the perfect opening of the ukrop offensive.
