Something makes me think that I need to concentrate my thoughts, analysis, ideas and initiatives in a single place. Telegram is naturally fragmented to private chats and group chats, and the only feasible way to inform all interested people about everything I'd like to say is to create a channel.

Hello! :>

First things first, there are just a few remaining units of TP1803, the only boxed sm8150 device one can get with secure boot off, at an uncommon price. The initiative behind it is probably something that everyone following this channel is aware of. As much as there will soon be no new units to get anymore, the whole idea can't die so easily. If to sum up every unaffiliated (freelance) Android developer's efforts into a single brand, that's much beyond the required skill level to create a polished device that is seeked by many.

On TP1803, we managed to handle on our own nearly all of the high level OS code, getting no OEM support in doing this. Even though I'd want these few possible extra people to be developers, I'm open to anyone willing to expand the community. Every single unit is a lesson after all. What is liked, what is not, what was unexpected. As I used to say on the beginning, the further we go with development on this thing, the more of a proof that with proper financing, proper documentation and code access, a community-defined device is actually possible. We should value the projects like Pinephone, that aim to bring hacker's hardware closer to mainstream quality, but why not to start from the opposite point? Why not make what we like in mainstream hw a better thing to use? When you buy a phone in 2020, a half of it is expected to be a gimmick, unobtrusive one if you're lucky. CUT IT! Were the most popular developer-friendly devices unfriendly to common people? Absolutely nope! They weren't, because to meet the requirements of a tinkerer, you need to first lay a solid ground for him to be interested.
Let's keep our thumbs up.

Reminder: from August 2021, you'll be required to backdoor your new apps in Google Play. Essentially, for the enforced App Bundle format to work, Google will want your private signing keys, therefore being able to generate a rogue update for any specific person or people. The absence of Google services on your device doesn't necessarily mean that such an app couldn't reach you either – by being signed with legitimate key of the app developer, such a binary can get redistributed anywhere.

This matter deserves a lot of media attention, and the issue gets bigger the closer we are to this date, with no way around provided by Google. Give us your keys, or bye.
