Oil tanker seized by US spotted in Scotland's Moray Firth
The UK government said the Marinera was being supplied with food and water before continuing its journey.
We would like to point out that although a number of #tankers were seized or ordered to head back to #Venezuela, many of them are still not pinging properly on AIS. They are either offline or spoofing their positions.
In any case, we have eyes on them in Venezuela.

A US-sanctioned tanker carrying a million barrels of Russian crude oil was supposed to reach Venezuela but following the pursuit of BELLA 1 (9230880) halfway across the Atlantic, the tanker turned away and showed up in Syria with her AIS offline.

To add some color to today's interdiction of GRINCH (9288851) by the French Navy, this tanker was placed under numerous sanctions over the past year. As such, her movements north of the Suez Canal are extremely limited.
We believe she was underway to Syria like back in May 2025; where she delivered Russian medium sour crude oil from the Black Sea. This time however, she was carrying the more preferred light sweet crude oil from Russia's Arctic region.
Russia supplies Syria with oil in order to maintain its air force and navy presence along the Mediterranean; and all of those shipments are done with US-sanctioned tankers, mostly in a covert manner. Last year, nearly 20 million barrels worth $1.34 billion were shipped out by Russia to Syria.

Here's an update on the 7 #tankers which the US Coast Guard seized over the past 6 weeks:
- 2 are laden with oil off of Texas-
- 2 are off the coast of Puerto Rico; 1 empty, 1 laden.
- 1 is in Scotland; empty.
- 2 are back in #Venezuela; 1 of which is still playing games. #OOTT

According to Iran's Mehr News Agency, the arrests took place “in the waters surrounding Farsi Island.” The cargo is reported to have been 1 million liters, which is 6,289 barrels or 745 tons.

For scale, a handysize tanker can carry up to 40,000 tons.
If Iran wants to eliminate the smuggling of gasoline, it will have to remove its subsidies, which currently allow the population to pay only $0.029 per liter. Yes, you read that right: two-point-nine US cents.
The side effect of removing subsidies, however, would be a guaranteed uprising. Smuggling continues because those with unlimited access to volumes (given that fuel is rationed per vehicle owner) are able to earn outlandish profit margins by shipping fuel abroad to neighboring markets. It is outright corruption at play.
