Telegram is the default crypto app, with 800m+ crypto users.
It recently dropped its crypto wallet + an ecosystem of mini apps.
It's s built by an affiliated company in partnership with TON (The Open Network), a new L1 chain, initially founded by Telegram.
Telegram's move is a bold one.
Onboarding to its self-custodial wallet is super easy.
No need to download or install anything.
This can be a game changer for millions of unbanked people.
Largely coming from developing countries.
And accelerating crypto adoption there.
But that's just the beginning.
Telegram is also promoting its affiliated L1 TON network and a bunch of mini-apps built on it.
Think of it as WeChat but with decentralized apps running on it.
The Telegram wallet also allows to hold NFTs based on TON chain.
And smoothly get access to different gated crypto communities.
This is clearly a level up from the existing gated crypto communities on Discord, which are hard to set up and navigate.

One downside is that TON network doesn't have a lot of adoption yet.
And the wallet only supports TON, BTC and USDT for now.
Time will show how much adoption their wallet will get.
