Google Chrome is ending support for two ancient versions of Android.
Google just announced that Chrome will stop getting updates on Android 8 (Oreo) and Android 9 (Pie) starting August 5, 2025, with Chrome 138 being the final version for those systems. After that, only devices running Android 10 or newer will get new Chrome features and security patches—so if you’re still on an older phone, it’s time to consider upgrading or risk missing out on important updates and protection. 📱

Google begins rolling out AI search in YouTube
YouTube is testing a new AI-powered search results carousel, currently available only to Premium users in the US, that puts AI-generated video summaries and relevant clips right at the top of search results—similar to Google’s AI Overviews. This means you’ll see a scrollable row of video highlights with short AI-written denoscriptions, so you can get the gist of each video (and sometimes the answer to your question) without even clicking through to watch the whole thing.
At the same time, YouTube’s conversational AI chatbot, which lets you ask questions about videos or get recommendations, is expanding to more non-Premium users. While these features make finding info faster, some creators worry it could hurt their views and engagement since users might skip watching full videos.
