Equifax Data Breach (2017):

In one of the most significant data breaches in history, Equifax, one of the largest credit reporting agencies, suffered a breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 147 million people. The breach occurred due to a vulnerability in Equifax's website software, which allowed hackers to gain access to sensitive data such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and in some cases, driver's license numbers.

Yahoo Data Breaches (2013-2014):

Yahoo experienced two major data breaches in 2013 and 2014, but they were only disclosed to the public in 2016 and 2017, respectively. These breaches compromised the personal information of over 3 billion Yahoo users, including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and encrypted passwords. The breaches severely damaged Yahoo's reputation and led to a decline in its acquisition value by Verizon.

Marriott International Data Breach (2018):

Marriott International disclosed a massive data breach in November 2018, affecting the Starwood guest reservation database. The breach exposed the personal information of approximately 383 million guests, including names, passport numbers, email addresses, and payment card details. The unauthorized access had reportedly started in 2014, but it was only discovered in 2018 after Marriott acquired Starwood.

Capital One, a major American bank, experienced a data breach in July 2019, affecting approximately 106 million customers in the United States and Canada. The breach exposed sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and credit card applications.
