In terms of AI, the new #4th-generation Snapdragon 8s# is a well-deserved powerhouse. Its AI performance has been greatly improved compared to the previous generation. With the help of multimodal generative AI, users can also interact with AI smart assistants to open up a new world of inspiration. A variety of large language models such as DeepSeek, Tongyi Qianwen, Mianbi Intelligent MiniCPM, Tencent Hunyuan and Wenxin Large Model can all be deployed on the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8s. The fourth-generation Snapdragon 8s also has master-level imaging capabilities: AI-enabled infinite semantic segmentation technology makes photos and videos lifelike; Night Vision night scene shooting 2.0 takes low-light video shooting to a new level, which is great![Send flowers]

8s Gen 4 QRD ( Qualcomm Reference Device ) Full Review by Xiaobai :
Product & Testing:
* This is a first look at the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, positioned as the successor to the well-regarded 8s Gen 3.
* Testing uses a Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) engineering phone, with one unit disassembled for precise power/efficiency measurements using external equipment (Keysight Battery Emulator).
Key Specifications & Architecture:
* Process: TSMC 4nm.
* CPU: Surprising 1+7 core layout:
* 1x Cortex-X4 @ 3.2 GHz (Ultra Core)
* 7x Cortex-A720 @ various clocks (up to 3.0 GHz) (Large Cores)
* Cache: Significantly improved: 8MB L3 + 6MB SLC (vs 4MB+3.5MB on 8s Gen 3).
* GPU: Adreno 825 @ 1.15 GHz. Features the new architecture from Adreno 830 but appears scaled down (likely 8 CUs vs 12), effectively a ~2/3 version. Supports Ray Tracing.
* Memory: LPDDR5X up to 9600 Mbps + UFS 4.0 (QRD tested uses 9600 Mbps RAM).
* Latency: Core-to-core and memory latency measured as good.
Benchmark Performance & Efficiency:
* Geekbench 6 CPU:
* Single-core: +10% vs 8s Gen 3, significantly faster than Dimensity 8400, slightly below 8 Gen 3.
* Multi-core: Peak score near 8 Gen 3 levels (+30% vs 8s Gen 3).
* *Efficiency:* Huge improvement. At the same performance level as 8s Gen 3 peak, it uses nearly half the power. ~20% more efficient than Dimensity 8400-Ultra at similar performance points. Strong overall efficiency, challenging current flagships.
* GFXBench GPU:
* Performance aligns with the "2/3 Adreno 830" theory. ~58% faster than 8s Gen 3, ~40% faster than Dimensity 8400-Ultra.
* *Efficiency:* Generally better than 8s Gen 3 and Dimensity 8400-Ultra, especially at higher loads, though slightly behind 8 Gen 3.
* 3DMark: Strong performance (SNL ~10% better than 8 Gen 3). Efficiency competitive with Dimensity 9300+, better than 8 Gen 3 and 8s Gen 3.
* Overall Ranking (小白测评): Combined score places it near A17 Pro, below top flagships but significantly ahead of 8s Gen 3 (+25%) and Dimensity 8400 (+15%).
Gaming (QRD - *Tuning Dependent*):
* Disclaimer: Results are from an engineering sample; final performance depends heavily on OEM cooling and software tuning.
* Honor of Kings: Excellent 119.1 FPS average, outperforming comparison devices. Uses ~5.5W. Shows ~20% FPS gain over 8s Gen 3 at similar power. CPU scheduling heavily relies on the X4 and fastest A720 cores.
* Genshin Impact: Stable 59.6 FPS average at relatively low 5.9W power. Comparable to 8 Gen 3, better than Dimensity 8400/8s Gen 3 shown.
* Honkai: Star Rail: Averages 50.6 FPS in a demanding scene (locks ~53 FPS early, drops later). Performance close to retail 8 Gen 3 phones, better than Dimensity 8400/8s Gen 3.
Conclusion:
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 QRD shows a very promising foundation. It delivers performance often close to the flagship 8 Gen 3, a massive leap over the 8s Gen 3 (+25-30%), and generally outperforms the Dimensity 8400-Ultra. Efficiency is a major highlight, showing significant gains over its predecessor and strong competitiveness. While gaming on the QRD is impressive, final device performance will hinge critically on OEM thermal management and software tuning, especially for the complex CPU cluster arrangement. Overall, it looks like a powerful and efficient chip poised for the sub-flagship market.
