ED vs Myntra: ₹1,654 Crore FEMA Case

Myntra got foreign money (Foreign Direct Investment or FDI) to run a wholesale business—selling in bulk to other companies.

But according to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), they were actually doing retail, selling to regular customers through a connected company called Vector.

That’s like telling the government, “I’m opening a supermarket for businesses,” but secretly selling groceries to individuals using your friend’s shop.

ED says Myntra wrongly used FDI worth ₹1,654 crore—that's a massive amount!

🧑‍⚖️ What Rules Were Broken?

India’s FDI rules say:

- Wholesale businesses can take foreign money, but only sell up to 25% of their stuff to related companies.

- Myntra allegedly sold almost everything to Vector, which then sold it to normal shoppers.

That breaks the rules.
