🖥 Still Gaming on a 2016 PC? Nvidia Has Two Big Updates for You

If your gaming PC was last upgraded in late 2016, Nvidia has some important announcements:

🔹 1. End of Driver Updates for Older GPUs (Oct 2025)

Nvidia will stop supporting the following GPU architectures with new *Game Ready* driver updates after October 2025:

* Maxwell
* Pascal
* Volta

🚫 This affects GeForce GTX 900- and 10-series GPUs, including fan-favorites like the GTX 1060.

🕹️ These cards will no longer receive optimized drivers for new games starting this fall.

---

🔹 2. Windows 10 Driver Support Ends (Oct 2026)

Nvidia will end all driver support for Windows 10 in October 2026.

🗓️ That’s one year after Microsoft’s official end-of-support for Windows 10.

💡 However, it still covers users who opt in to Microsoft’s free Extended Security Updates (ESUs) — *and yes, there’s a guide to help you get those*.

⚠️ After October 2026, to continue receiving driver updates, even for newer GPUs like the RTX 40- and 50-series, you’ll need to upgrade to Windows 11.

---

🔒 But Wait — Some Support Will Continue (Until 2028)

For the Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs:

* Nvidia will still provide quarterly security updates through October 2028.

* ⚠️ *These will NOT include game optimizations or bug fixes.*

🎮 So if you’re still gaming on an older PC — maybe enjoying Minecraft or Roblox — your setup won’t be left open to security vulnerabilities.

Apple Developing Custom Image Sensor for Future iPhones

Apple is reportedly developing a custom image sensor for future iPhones, aiming for a dynamic range comparable to the human eye, potentially surpassing current smartphone cameras and even professional cinema cameras like the ARRI ALEXA 35.

The sensor design, described in a recent patent, features a stacked architecture with two layers: a sensor die for light capture and a logic die for processing, incorporating innovative technologies like Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitors (LOFIC) to handle extreme lighting differences and on-chip noise suppression.

This move towards a custom sensor would give Apple complete control over the image pipeline, similar to its shift away from using hardware from companies like Intel and Qualcomm, and the sensor is reportedly already developed and in testing phase.
Apple Reinvents the Iris: New Patent Reveals Soft-Membrane Aperture for Future iPhone Cameras

Apple has just unveiled another bold move in its mission to revolutionize mobile imaging.

A newly published patent reveals a soft, flexible membrane-based aperture system that could replace traditional mechanical iris designs in future iPhone cameras.

This could mark a major step toward turning the iPhone into a truly pro-level filmmaking tool.

And yes—it’s as ambitious as it sounds.
