Google is rolling out the Identity Check feature it announced last week.
When Identity Check is enabled, biometric authentication will be required for sensitive actions like:
- Accessing saved passkeys and app passwords
- Changing the PIN, pattern, or password, and turning off Find My Device
...whenever your phone is in an untrusted location. This makes it harder for someone to compromise your Google Account. Turning off the feature requires either your biometrics or your Google Account and can only be done when your phone has Internet access.
Identity Check works on Android 15 and later and is available through a beta version of Google Play Services

When you enable Android's new Identity Check feature, biometric authentication will be required for the following actions when your phone is outside a trusted location:
* Access saved passwords and passkeys with Google Password Manager.
* Autofill passwords in apps from Google Password Manager, except in Chrome.
* Change screen lock, like PIN, pattern, and password.
* Change biometrics, like Fingerprint or Face Unlock.
* Run a factory reset.
* Turn off Find My Device.
* Turn off any theft protection features.
* View trusted places.
* Turn off Identity Check.
* Set up a new device with your current device.
* Add or remove a Google Account.
* Access Developer options.
* Change your password from account settings or through "Forgot password."
* Add or change recovery factors on the device.
You can continue to use PIN, pattern or passwords for Private Space, multiusers, autofill payments in apps, and password and payments autofill in Chrome.
Identity Check is currently available on Pixel phones running Android 15 QPR1 or later (December '24 Pixel Drop) as well as the samsung Galaxy S24 running the One UI 7 beta. The feature only works on devices that support class 3 ("strong") biometrics. To enable it, go to theft protection settings - Identity Check will be listed there if your device supports it

Xiaomi, as part of the Mobile Smart Terminal Ecological Alliance (formerly the Gold Label Alliance), has achieved a 99.64% adaptation rate for 64-bit applications across its app store.
Despite this progress, over 3,200 key applications remain non-adapted to 64-bit. Notable non-adapted apps include "National 12315 Platform," "JAC Motors," "Tuxi Express Locker," and "NBA 2K16." The Alliance, which includes members like OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Lenovo, Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent, and BBK, is actively working to phase out 32-bit apps to enhance user experience and security. This initiative aligns with the industry's shift, as Arm architecture began requiring 64-bit instructions in 2023, and Android 15, released in 2024, no longer supports 32-bit apps on new devices.
