The celtic celebration of the Winter Solstice

Some druid orders believe it to be the light of the hero king Arthur Pendragon being reborn as the Sun Child (the Mabon) at the time of the Solstice.

Others see the light as the Great Bear constelation, or the Plough. Art or Arthur meaning "bear" in gaelic, is the common denominator, on both sides, and each theory leads to the sun's rebirth.

Just like Yuletide, Alba Arthan is a celebration that marks the shortest days and longest nights of the year. Also, just like its Germanic counterpart, mistletoe is used during the various rituals, just like holy.

Celtic monuments are aligned with the Winter Solstice, such as: Newgrange (Co Meath, Eire), Maes Howe (Okney, Scotland), Seven Mile Cursus (Dorset, England), Stonehenge (England), Knowth, and Loughcrew (Eire).

I could have left some monuments, but these are confirmed, in this context, and should still be visited.

Nietzsche was a stoic.
The difference is that his stoicism is more "Me Ne Frego" than the "Tutto Passa" of Marcus Aurelius.
Its manly stoicism, big difference.
Merry Christmas from mine to yours

Nuture's power and glory are immense. For it surrounds us, sustains us and makes us. We live in accordance with nature, not out of fear, but rather, out of love and respect.

The races of Partholon, Nemed, and the Tuatha De Danann succeeded one another in Ireland like the golden race, the silver, and the bronze races in Greece. The first had disappeared on the arrival of the second, and the second had died out when the third came. The third race, the Tuatha De Danann, was subjugated by the ancestors of the modern Irish, and took shelter behind the veil of invisibility, which it no longer raises now, save under exceptional circumstances. The question naturally arises as to how any knowledge of this remote past could have come down to us, seeing that it is concerned with races from whom the actual inhabitants of the country can claim no descent, and to whom, therefore, neither their family nor their national traditions can be traced back.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, a population of many thousands of Gaelic speaking Highland Scots and Scots-Irish migrated to North Carolina, particularly the Cape Fear Valley. The Argyll Colony was possibly the largest, though these Gaels were spread throughout North Carolina and the Appalachian mountains alongside many Irish migrants who found community among fellow Gaels.

In 1739 the leaders of the Argyll Colony petitioned the Presbytery of Inverary to provide them with "a clergyman that can speak the Highland language since from that country all our servants are to be, many of which cannot speak any other language."

In 1748 there was a request for an "Irish" speaking minister.

In 1755 Rev. Hugh McAden in frustration, voiced his efforts were futile as the congregations could not understand English.

Up until 1820 there were five counties in North Carolina where Gaelic was not only the language in the street, but the official language of the courts too.

Some elfish place names in England include Alvescot in Oxfordshire, from Ælfegescota meaning Ælf hēah's cot or Elf’s Cottage.

Elvendon, also in Oxfordshire, comes from Elvesdenegrof, meaning Elves Wood Grove. Aluehou near Tetney in Lincolnshire comes from álfr haugr or the mound haunting by elves – somewhere to give blot on the next full moon as Frēa (Frey) and the ælfe will be invoked in many upcoming rites!

Another mound haunted by elves is Elvinhowe in Gosforth in Newcastle, whilst Elveden is a valley near Thetford, which is home to the elves.

Prehistoric Owl depicted in the Chauvet Cave in France. It was discovered in 1994, and hosts the oldest figurative art in human history. The paintings are said to be over 36,000 years old and the painters were the Aurignacians, the first anatomically modern humans in Europe who lived during the Upper Paleolithic Age.

The cave was formed by an underground river, and fourteen animal species are depicted in the paintings, along with other themes. Click here to learn more!
