As our KAIM cohort 3 and 4 trainees are about to wrap up their 12-week journey with us, we’re excited to showcase some of their projects! They have been using AI to solve real-world problems. This time, we're diving into the energy sector, where smart predictions can make a huge difference.
Meet Abrham Berie and his project!
Abrham built a system that predicts Brent crude oil prices using AI. His project helps investors and analysts understand price trends and market risks instead of relying on assumptions.
He used machine learning to spot patterns in past oil prices and predict future trends. One model (LSTM) helps forecast price changes, while another (GARCH) estimates how much prices might fluctuate. To make the data useful, he cleaned and prepared it, analyzed trends, and created an easy-to-use dashboard where people can explore insights and get predictions in real time.

Meet Amare Kassa and his Credit Card and e-Commerce Fraud Detection System!
Using Machine Learning and Deep Learning (CNN & LSTM), his project helps detect fraudulent transactions in real time. He cleaned and prepared data, explored patterns, trained models using MLflow, and built a Flask API for real-time fraud detection. To make insights easy to understand, he also created an interactive Dash dashboard for visualization.
Fraud detection is a huge challenge in digital payments, and AI solutions like Amare’s are making transactions safer. Want to check out his work?

He used customer transaction patterns (how often they spend, how much, and when) to predict risk levels. He trained multiple AI models and fine-tuned them until the system reached an impressive 99.78% accuracy. To make it useful for real businesses, he built an API that delivers real-time risk predictions.
