Energy prices surged 60%. Industrial output barely nudged upward, a feeble 1.2% increase, and even that buoyed by a war footing (which is pathetic), not productive renewal. This is not recovery, but militarized decay. Brussels calls the revolt “populism.” But what they truly fear isn’t Moscow. It’s their own people — cold, broke, and betrayed, staring back at them with nothing left to lose.
Europe didn’t stumble into decline.
It was engineered, by technocrats who chose ideology over industry, and suicidal proxy war over prosperity. And now that the costs are hitting home, they’re blaming “populists” for a collapse they themselves choreographed.
Let’s speak clearly... The 60% surge in energy costs? That wasn’t accidental. That was the price of decoupling from cheap Russian gas, blowing up Nordstream, and replacing the last vestige of sovereignty with dependency on overpriced U.S. LNG.
The modest “industrial rebound” isn’t built on cars, civilian factories, or consumer demand. While auto giants collapse — German vehicle output down from 5.6 M to under 4 M per year, companies like Rheinmetall and Hensoldt rake in record profits. Rheinmetall’s defense‑sales surged 36 %, with defense now 80 % of its business; Hensoldt’s orders jumped 28 %. Across Europe, the aerospace and defence sector logged a 10.1 % turnover jump in 2024, driving a 13.8 % increase in defence revenues to €183.4 billion. That is what passes for “growth” in today’s EU: not production of goods, but production of violence. Making the 1.2% upward squeak, that much more of a joke.
And still the lights are going out.
Germany’s once-proud steel mills lie dormant. Dutch fertilizer plants are slashing output, or shutting entirely. Italy’s machine-tool workshops are watching orders vanish, month after month. The engines of European industry aren’t being sabotaged by Moscow, they’re being euthanized by Brussels.
Yet the architects of this disaster have the audacity to say the problem is “populism.”
As if it’s the people demanding endless war.
As if it’s farmers who demanded 19 rounds of boomersng sanctions. As if it’s truckers and pensioners who ordered the destruction of Europe’s energy infrastructure, or begged Brussels to become a satrapy of the State Department.
No. What they call “populism” is simply the people not consenting to their own annihilation. And now, across France, Germany, Italy, and Eastern Europe, that consent is being withdrawn, in protests, in ballots, and in the bitter resentment of a population that knows it’s been sacrificed.
Meanwhile, Russia, the “gas station” they all laughed at, became the world’s fourth-largest economy by PPP, posted higher GDP growth than the EU, and continues to roll through NATO’s proxy army without blinking.
Europe? It’s being governed by administrators, not statesmen. Men and women who surrendered any semblance of economic autonomy, energy security, and diplomatic agency in exchange for Atlanticist approval.
They told us Russia would collapse. Russia’s growing. Sanctions predictably boomeranged, accelerating Europe’s economic collapse. They said they were defending democracy, while crushing dissent, criminalizing opposition, censored the press, and blamed the backlash on “populism.”
Europe is being euthanized. And its final gasps are being recorded in real time — in energy bills, closing factories, and the furious awakening of a working class that has been told to suffer in order to “protect Ukrainian democracy.”
What’s really being protected? The illusion of NATO’s relevance. Buying a few more years of the U.S. dollar’s supremacy. Washington’s proxy interests. Not Europe. Not its people. Not its industry. Not its future.
Europe didn’t catch populism. It caught natural consequences, of a war economy masquerading as a pathetic recovery. Europe’s metamorphosis is complete — from civilization-builder to vassal depot. What Versailles was to exhausted empires, Brussels is to terminal decline.

The EU’s own diplomatic aristocracy, Federica Mogherini, former foreign policy chief, and Stefano Sannino, ex–top mandarin of the EEAS, just got hauled into custody over a crooked tender. Not some backwater file. The flagship EU Diplomatic Academy. The beating heart of the Eurocrat caste.
The charges? Procurement fraud, corruption, conflict of interest, and violation of secrecy laws. A judge has 48 hours to decide how deep this goes. And for once, even the Commission’s favorite propaganda outlet, Politico, couldn’t find enough perfume to hide the stench. Their headline didn’t dance around it: “Fraud probe risks plunging EU into biggest crisis in decades.”
But this isn’t the beginning of the story. This is just the latest chapter in a crime series we call The Union. The real beginning was Qatargate, in 2022, when EU Parliament Vice President Eva Kaili was arrested after police raided homes and offices across Brussels and found over €1.5 million in literal bags of cash. Qatar and Morocco were buying influence. Bribes, exchanged in the shadows of an institution that tells the world it defends “democracy.”
Then came Pfizergate. While Europe locked down and citizens lost their livelihoods, Ursula von der Leyen negotiated a multi-billion-euro vaccine deal by private SMS with the CEO of Pfizer, bypassing her own officials. When journalists requested the texts, she refused. When lawyers pressed, she stonewalled. Eventually, in May 2025, the EU’s General Court ruled that she had violated transparency law. The punishment? None. The reward? A second term.
But the rot didn’t stop with Pfizergate. It burrowed into security. Huawei’s Brussels network became Season Three. Chinese tech influence seeped into EU institutions like groundwater through cracked foundations. Think tanks funded. Former diplomats hired. MEPs lobbied. Security services raised alarms. And Brussels, as always, shrugged.
Now, in Season Four, the scandal cuts to the bone. The Diplomatic Academy, symbol of European virtue, is now a crime scene. Mogherini, who got her College of Europe post after missing the application deadline, now faces questions over how that same institution landed a lucrative EU contract she helped orchestrate. Sannino, a revolving-door bureaucrat, glided from EEAS secretary-general straight into von der Leyen’s Commission, just as the tender he touched came under fire. And here’s the kicker... this wasn’t exposed by dissident media or “Russian bots.” It was exposed by the EU’s own prosecutor. The mask is slipping, and even Brussels’ own internal organs can’t keep up the fiction.
This isn’t about isolated scandals. This is about structure. Every scandal ends in a promotion. Every violation is repackaged as a “European value.” Nobody resigns. Nobody is afraid. Because the EU isn’t built on democracy. It’s built on impunity.
And the hypocrisy is total. Brussels has frozen Hungary’s funds over “rule of law,” hammered Poland for judicial reforms, and branded Russia a kleptocracy at every turn. Yet it sends hundreds of billions to Ukraine, then says nothing as Zelensky's proxies and Ukraine's oligarchs enrich themselves in wartime, build offshore empires, and bleed Western aid dry. Why the silence? Maybe because it can’t interrogate Zelensky without implicating the entire Eurocrat caste.
Ursula von der Leyen is the thread that ties all these scandals together. Secret deals with Big Pharma. A deafening silence on Qatargate. A revolving cast of fixers promoted into her Commission. And now, the Diplomatic Academy, her own former top diplomat, under investigation for fraud. Still, Brussels insiders tell Politico, “People who don’t like her will use this against her.” No, people who want truth will use this against her. People who are tired of being ruled by an unelected caste who don’t answer to voters, don’t fear prosecutors, and don’t think laws apply to them.
And when legitimacy dies, history doesn’t call for elections, it calls for reckoning.

Panic indeed. When US controlled NABU (reportedly) opens cases against 70 MPs from the ruling party, that’s not anti-corruption. That’s D.C. executing a controlled demolition. Zelensky’s entourage is fleeing because everyone can smell the verdict: the actor’s run is over.
Neither Trump nor Putin will legitimize him, and Kiev's political class is already sneaking to Moscow for terms because they know the Americans have cut the power. The post-Zelensky transition has begun, the only people still pretending it’s not happening are his corrupt European handlers.
Zelensky outlawed negations with Putin, and is unelected with zero legal mandate to negotiate. Russia and the Trump admin are merely honouring Zelensky's wishes... You didn't want to negotiate with Putin? Great stop whinning, there's the door. Elections will come and a settlement that reflects Russia's legitimate interests and the battlefield reality, will be finalized.
Capitulation, with cosmic humiliation downloaded onto the Europeans. Speaking of corruption — look at Ursula von der Leyen, the Empress of Corruption herself, drowning in scandal after scandal. From the secret-text multimillion-dose vaccine contract with Pfizer (Pfizergate), to the revolving-door influence networks she’s spent her career cultivating, to the latest detonation: her own former High Representative, Federica Mogherini, and top EEAS official Stefano Sannino detained over a rigged Diplomatic Academy tender. Procurement fraud, corruption, conflict of interest, the whole arsenal.
The judge now has 48 hours to decide how deep the rot runs, but the symbolism is already terminal. The very institution meant to train Europe’s diplomats has become a crime scene. And the more the Commission sermonizes about “values” and “rule of law,” the clearer it becomes that the swamp isn’t in Kiev, it’s in Brussels. Kiev is merely a franchise.
Ukraine’s corruption is a mirror, while Brussels keeps smashing the glass in vain so no one sees their reflection.
Europe is exposed, and the West’s entire Ukraine project is entering its terminal hour. The great irony? Moscow may not have to bring it all down. Washington seems to have cut the power, Brussels pretendingthe lights are still on, and Kiev? Too busy stripping the place for copper, to notice the whole grid collapsing.
The era of illusions is over. The settlement is coming, on the battlefield or via the pen. And Europe, drunk on its own propaganda and hypocrisy, is about to wake up with the kind of hangover that ends empires.
