Can you feel it? So much hate, and arguing, and division. So much negativity in the air 24/7. It's beginning to cling to us all. We are breathing it in every day. It's a heavy, heavy weight.
Polarizing opinions have been around since the dawn of time. But today's technology has allowed our beautiful differences to morph into a disease. Social media allows us to see someone's intimate beliefs without ever looking them in the eye. We can argue without ever speaking a word to each other. We can very easily hate people we have never met. We soak in these arguments as they glow about 10 inches in front of our face hour after hour in the form of posts, memes, and videos.
I see so many young people saying, " Unfriend me if you believe XYZ." I want so badly for them to know that the answer lies in friending everyone who thinks differently than them. There is so much beauty and growth in diversity. I promise there is someone you love who believes differently than you.
Why are we letting the world convince us that our way is right and all other ways are wrong? Why are we accepting the lie that there is no space where you can be you, I can be me, and we can still love each other? Always be who you are. Always fight for what you believe. But know that you can always do that while loving everyone else who is doing the same.
