Looking more and more like a real mutiny by military contractors, and possibly an attempted coup, is being attempted against Putin by the mercenary forces of Wagner.

MILDEC still possible, but looking less likely this morning than it was late last night.

There’ve been some clashes, but not significant fighting. Reports are that Wagner has downed four to five Russian aircraft and are headed to Moscow after easily capturing, without any notable resistance, Russias 11th largest city and military HQ for Ukraine Operation- Rostov.

A thought: if you wanted to bait Ukraine into haphazardly and hurriedly restarting their offensive and massively overcommitting to it… a fake coup against Putin by Wagner would do the trick.

Would also reveal which oligarchs support Putin and which do not.

Effectively, a lure and a loyalty test.

There are reports that Ukrainian Forces are on the move and seeking to take advantage of this situation. Zelenskyy reportedly now supporting Wagner, at least as far as this mutiny goes, anyway.

Chechen Forces are reportedly headed to Rostov.

What the Russian military does in response to Wagner’s actions will tell the tale. So far, they haven’t responded in any significant way.
