NEW: An early morning train derailment in Hyattsville, Maryland.
The Hyattsville Police Department closed both directions of Alternate Route 1 between Decatur Street and Charles Armentrout Drive so crews can clean up the accident.
Police said 16 cars and one locomotive derailed and the train spilled an unknown amount of plastic pellets.
