Happening Now: Rep Troy Nehls of Texas announced he will be filing the paperwork to make Trump the Speaker of the House. US Law allows for anyone to serve as Speaker, even if they’re not a member of Congress.

He released the following statement: “This week, when the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes, my first order of business will be to nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.”

McHenry is from a Trump district and is literally WORSE from the Dems POV than McCarthy was. So as long as he is Speaker, we are comfy as fuck.

But, if/when the nominations start up, I expect someone worse than McCarthy, from MAGA POV, to be elected.

Rep McHenry is currently Speaker Pro Tempore because McCarthy selected him to be. It’s a contingency plan in case of Speaker removal or incapacitation.

There is no limit on how long he can be speaker…
