President Joe Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson (relative of Paul Ryan) to the Supreme Court on February 25, 2022, to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer.
Her nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 7, 2022, by a vote of 53-47.
She received her judicial commission on April 8, 2022, and was sworn in on June 30, 2022, "officially" taking her seat as the 116th Associate Justice.
If the issue is brought up to the Supreme Court, she would obviously have to recuse herself.

In 2021, Congressman Byron Donalds supported the Biden administration’s efforts to expedite the resettlement of Afghan refugees in the United States.
"There’s going to be a lot of resettlement that needs to occur," Donalds said.
