27.08.22 Three men were arrested after Australian cops found a “staggering” 2 US tons of methamphetamine stashed inside marble tiles from the UAE, following a further 1,060kg (2,337 pounds) that was confiscated from 19 trailers at the same port last week.
At an estimated street value of $1.6bn Australian ($1.12bn US), police predict “this seizure will be felt for weeks to come by many high, mid and lower-level suppliers” as the traffickers now face life sentences if convicted.
The containers were headed for a factory in western Sydney where the meth would be extracted. Police have said that they do not know how long the factory had been used.
