🔹More than a dozen proposed LNG export projects in the US 🇺🇸 could stall due to cost inflation and increased competition to secure financing due to higher interest rates. There are fewer and fewer construction co.'s that can actually handle these kinds of loads to build LNG export facilities 🏭 in the US.
🔹LNG export project developers face repeated delays as they vie with each other to secure the long-term purchase agreements needed to underwrite their projects. Projects under construction or entering service will increase US capacity by roughly 70% once they all come online by 2027.
🔹European countries have been rushing to build import terminals and purchase LNG. Ukraine's 🇺🇦 lawmakers called on the US & EU🇪🇺 for new sanctions, including a ban on Western co.'s providing services to help Russia export LNG.
Last reported on this channel:
💠 US LNG exports to Europe increased y-o-y by 140% in 2022, hitting a record monthly high in Mar. '23.
💠 Spain 🇪🇸has imported 84% more Russian LNG since Feb. '22.
💠 The EU's LNG imports from Russia 🇷🇺 in 2022 rose by 31% and 35% compared to 2020 & 2021 volumes, respectively,
💠 Head of the EU Energy Regulator admits, the EU’s price cap is an untested tool that may not work as intended to prevent gas price spikes. "The gas price cap is “a difficult creature, it’s unprecedented, it’s untested”.
💠 Chinese 🇨🇳co.'s that signed long-term contracts to buy U.S. LNG are selling the excess & making millions per cargo.
💠 Qatar's 🇶🇦 Energy Minister says EU's natural gas price caps are hypocritical.

🔹The Chilean 🇨🇱 gov't announced a plan to have the state take a majority stake in the lithium 🔋industry. Chile's President G. 🔹France’s 🇫🇷 power prices for early 2024 are double the German prices for next winter as the huge French nuclear fleet continues to show signs of weak output and availability. 🔹India 🇮🇳 and Bangladesh 🇧🇩 have reached a deal that will see a small part of their bilateral trade transactions settled in their own currencies, the Indian rupee and the Bangladeshi taka. Meanwhile, Bangladesh is set to make loan repayments in Chinese 🇨🇳 yuan for its nuclear power plant being built by Russia.
🔹It is expected that exports from Bangladesh to India, (about $2 billion in 2022), will be fully switched to rupees and takas, while $2 billion-worth of Indian exports to Bangladesh (out of roughly $13.69 billion as of the previous fiscal year) will be paid-for in rupees. The rest will continue to be paid in dollars.
🔹That is about 15% of Indian exports to Bangladesh paid in rupees. Businesses have for some time been calling on the central banks of the two nations to allow the switch. The tightening monetary policy of the US 🇺🇸 Federal Reserve has also placed great pressure on India's dollar liquidity. Thus, it becomes increasingly unsustainable for India to settle its foreign trade completely in US dollars.

💠 India 🇮🇳 has been exploring a rupee trade settlement mechanism with Russia.

🔹EU 🇪🇺 Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni called on Italy 🇮🇹 to stop dragging its heels over ratification of the reform of European Stability Mechanism (ESM) eurozone bailout fund. Italy is the only EU country holding out on ratifying the reform over fears it could reduce the nation's sovereignty on budget issues.
🔹The Italian gov't wants the ESM bailout fund to change and become a vehicle for growth. The examination of the two bills for its ratification, has been at a standstill for almost a month in the🇮🇹 Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
🔹The ESM is a European entity for managing the financial crisis in the Eurozone 💶. In 2012, it replaced the European Financial Stability Facility and the European Financial Stabilisation Mechanism, which had been implemented in response to the public-debt crisis in the Eurozone.
🔹It concerns only EU member states that are part of the Eurozone. If there is a threat to the stability of the Eurozone, the ESM is supposed to grant financial ‘assistance’ (loans) to a country or countries in difficulty. There are strict conditions to this assistance.

🔹Russia's Foreign Minister S. Lavrov addressed the online Global Conference on Multipolarity on April 29th. He said, "It seems only natural that efforts by Washington and its satellites to reverse the course of history and force the international community to live up to a ‘rules-based world order’ have failed. He also expressed that the trend toward multipolarity is irreversible, whether former colonial powers like it or not.
🔹The 17-hour long conference was filled with short speeches from politicians, public dignitaries, journalists, and academic and cultural figures from around the world, who stand up for multipolarity, and for fairer and more democratic inter-state relations.
🔹Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spokeswoman, M. Sakharova, criticized "the political elites in the US and the EU who do not use information and communication technologies for the noble purpose of providing objective information to the general public, but for agitation, provocation and propaganda".
🔹Political scientist & philosopher Alexander Dugin declared that the era of unipolarity is over. He encouraged attendees of various nations to recognise that they are part of many civilizations and not only "the rest of the world" that Western leaders categorize non-western countries as. He included the people of western civilization who are against the agendas (anti-humanity) pushed by their western political elite, as part of the multipolar world.

🔹Hungary's 🇭🇺Foreign Minister P. Szijjártó responded to Ukrainian President V. Zelensky's claim that Hungary's behavior and close relationship with Moscow do not correspond to the behavior of a NATO member.
🔹FM Szijjártó responded saying that Zelensky has no right to decide whether Hungary’s behaviour is in line with its NATO membership. He continued, "the Hungarian people have already paid too high a price for this war" (referencing Ukraine 🇺🇦 disproportionately connoscripting ethnic Hungarians in Transcarpathia).
🔹The FM also said that the EU is dominated by “an atmosphere of war”, with the vast majority of member states in favor of faster delivery of even more weapons to Ukraine, while “pro-peace players are under serious attack”. Hungary's State Secretary C. Dömötör said the political mainstream in Brussels 🇪🇺 has a “one-dimensional and simplistic view” of Hungary’s position on the war in Ukraine.
🔹Deputy speaker of Hungary’s🇭🇺 parliament, I. Jakab, wants to see “a sovereign European Union independent of other powers and influences … which preserves the European values as laid out in the founding treaty”.
🔹The liberal ALDE party (Liberals and Democrats for Europe) has begun a poster campaign against the Hungarian gov't using a picture with one-third of a pizza, to show that the average salary in Hungary is a third of that in Western Europe. The expectation is to tell Hungarians 🇭🇺 'More Europe = more benefits'. The ALDE is counteracting the Orban gov't recent challenges to Brussels.
