BREAKING: An emergency petition from a Wisconsin Group has been filed to the Supreme Court in an effort to block President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program while litigations from a lower court are underway. Since this was filed under the emergency docket/shadow docket, we likely won’t know reason the court grants/denies the request.
BREAKING: Supreme Court has DENIED an appeal from a death row inmate hoping to block his execution, the decision came via the shadow docket. The execution will take place tomorrow at 10:00amET.
BREAKING: Senator Lindsey Graham has filed an emergency petition to the Supreme Court in hopes of overruling a lower court decision that required him to testify in the Georgia election fraud case. Justice Thomas oversees all appeals from this circuit court, which he can rule on his own or refer it to the full court. Decision for this matter, since it was filed under the shadow docket, could come at any time.

UPDATE: Justice Thomas has asked the Fulton County Special Purpose Grand Jury (Respondent in this case) for a response to Senator Graham’s emergency request to block the subpoena ordering him to testify in a 2020 election fraud case in Georgia. The Respondent has until Thursday October 27th at 5:00pmET to respond.
BREAKING UPDATE: Justice Thomas has issued a temporary injunction on Senator Graham testifying in the Georgia 2020 election fraud probe, the ruling, not based on the merits of the case, but rather gives the Supreme Court time to further brief on the issue.

Today at the Supreme Court: The court will hear the biggest challenge to the controversial affirmative action. In a case known as “Grutter V Bollinger”, the court will finally answer the question of whether race based admissions are in violation of the 14th Amendment and anti discrimination laws or acting within the state’s diversity interests. The case is expected to be decided next summer.
NOTE: Todays case is not named “Grutter V Bollinger” but the court is however considering on whether it should overturn THAT decision or keep it the same. Just in case some people may have been confused by the wording!
BREAKING: Chief Justice Roberts temporarily halts the turnover of Trump’s tax returns from the IRS to the Congressional House committee, a partial win for the Trump legal team. Roberts has asked for a response by the applicant, in this case the House Committee, before referring it to the full court!

BREAKING UPDATE: Justice Thomas has issued a temporary injunction on Senator Graham testifying in the Georgia 2020 election fraud probe, the ruling, not based on the merits of the case, but rather gives the Supreme Court time to further brief on the issue.
UPDATE: Supreme Court as a whole has denied the request from Lindsey Graham to block him from testifying in the Georgia 2020 election fraud probe. This order replaces a previous one issued by Justice Thomas last week.
ICYMI: Yet another case is added to the Supreme Court emergency (or shadow) docket. This case is also related to the many other cases challenging Biden’s student debt forgiveness program, one lawsuit is currently being litigated in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, while on temporary hold. This new request is once again heading to Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s desk, which based on the history with this issue and Justice Barrett’s previous actions on this matter, it might be denied without being referred to the full court.

Monday morning at SCOTUS: Supreme Court released its order list this morning, no new cases added to the docket, however there were some lengthy dissent for some of the cases.
Supreme Court has released its January calendar docket for cases they will hear during the month, only seven cases have been added to the month, with only five argument days scheduled during the month.
BREAKING: Biden administration has asked the Supreme Court to intervene and reinstate the Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which was shut down by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeal heads the Justice Kavanaugh’s desk, where he can reject it, or refer it to the full court for consideration.

NEW: Supreme Court will hear a case involving Jack Daniel’s, the whiskey company, and “Bad Spaniels” dog toys company, the issue over trademark laws, Court will hear the case next year.

BREAKING: Supreme Court DENIES Fmr. President Trump’s bid to prevent a House Ways and Means Committee from receiving his tax returns. This new order comes just three weeks after Chief Justice Roberts temporarily halted the turnover of his tax returns to the Committee. There are no recorded dissents.

Busy week at the Supreme Court, with four oral arguments scheduled between today and Wednesday. Today the court will hear arguments in case “Percoco v U.S.” which deals with the issue on whether a private citizen, not occupying a public office, who is influential over governmental decisions, has a fiduciary duty to the general public. The court will also hear arguments in case “Ciminelli v U.S.”, which deals with the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and “right to control” theory of fraud. Arguments begin at 10amET.

Today the Court will hear arguments in case “United States V Texas”. which entails whether state officials or plaintiffs, have the legal standing to challenge the Department of Homeland Security’s guidance when it comes to the enforcement of civil immigration policies/laws. In July the divided court declined to reinstate Biden’s immigration guidelines but agreed to hear the case. This is the only case on the docket for oral arguments today, arguments begin at 10amET.
