What is something you’ve noticed in TVD that just doesn’t make sense?
I know it’s just a show and I love it nonetheless, but I’ve come across sooo many narratives, gaps, or things that happen that would never happen logically.
One I can think of right now since I’m at this point in my rewatch, is that Lily never came to physically check on Damon and Stefan when she turned. She could’ve easily appeared to them and then compelled them to forget. If a mother or even a Lily version of a mother could see her children she would have. Especially with the strength and power of a vampire. In season 7 the idea portrayed is that she actually does love them despite making her seem like she had zero emotion towards them in season 6 (which is another contradiction).
Since she loved Stefan and Damon enough to try to run away with them when they were kids, and consequently stay with her abuser just so he wouldn’t take them away, I just think realistically she would’ve gone to see them herself even secretly instead of sending other people to do it. I guess that would’ve ruined the mommy dearest narrative because they would’ve remembered when they turned but still.
Also another (since I’m in season 7) if the huntress existed and was such a ruthless and successful vampire hunter, and also a derivative of the brotherhood 5, it doesn’t make sense that she didn’t show up earlier or that these guys had never heard of her. And Damon choosing to sign off and desiccate when Stefan is at risk of being killed by her is so unrealistic. He would never do that especially since it was his fault. He would stick around until the problem is fully resolved. I know he’s selfish but he’s not leave-Stefan-to-die selfish.
Anyway that’s my take - you may agree or disagree. I’d love to hear any others.
Edit: I just remembered when Enzo killed himself via Stefan and they made such a big deal about how Stefan killed him when he didn’t and all he had to do was explain what really happened. Stefan just let everyone think he killed him. Also Enzo actually references Stefan killing him too (when he’s torturing them from the other side) which is crazy coz he knows damn well he pushed himself onto the stake.

Pairings that I liked better than their character endgame
This is just my silly little list that i'm making on my 7th rerun of TVD rn. These are some of the. ships i genuinely enjoyed and imo might've better than who the characters ultimately ended up with.
Klaus-Caroline (obviously)
Rebekah-Matt (i think he challenged her a lot emotionally and morally and it was sweet when they finaly got together)
Damon-Rose/Andie (what i really loved about both these women was they were age appropriate for Damon and had a more mature connection/banter with both of them. Refreshing to watch)
These are what i have so far, lmk if ya'll have ships like these too!

I don’t understand why “Stefan never took any accountability” is such a popular opinion.
(Disclaimer - I haven’t watched the show in about a year and usually only rewatch from seasons one to three. More often than not, I may be missing some crucial information.)
It actually baffles me to read that anywhere, not that I’m disregarding anyone’s opinions, but for this particular topic, I **heavily** disagree with the notion.
I feel like he takes more accountability than most of the characters in the show. Yes, even more than Damon and all of the other characters who are unapologetically bad and are unashamed to express themselves. Not to say they didn’t eventually try to reform themselves to become better people, but nine times out of ten, it’s due to the motivation they receive from others (ex. Damon via Elena, Klaus via Hope). In the end, I feel that eventually that it’s not sustainable enough for them to continue developing on their own without said support.
Stefan’s will is derived from a lot of shame and self-loathing, but on a level, I see that as a good thing. Not in a pleasant way, but a logical one. He feels all of these reckless emotions because he’s recognized the severity of his atrocities, how horrific all of the crimes that he’s committed are. That’s why he wants to become a better person; because he knows that he’s terrible. He continuously acknowledges his faults and wrongdoings and that’s what pushes him into chasing after his morality. It’s even harder for him to do so because of him being a Ripper, and that’s something that he’ll never be able to forget. Memories can come and go, but that side of him? He can’t escape nor hide from it. Even if he wasn’t in that physical and mental state, he has to put in enough work to restore the good in him in order to balance out the bad.
I’m aware that it’s not all black and white, and all of these characters have to fight their internal and external conflicts, but I’m very interested in hearing other people’s thoughts! All opinions are welcome here 😁

Elena's character was ruined by the writers
I liked Elena in the first season. But I hate how her character was developed. She became a very selfish person who always excused Damon (even though he didn't deserve it). I understand that she was attracted to him, but I'd like to see her confront him and call him out brutally honest about his actions. And then I'd like to see her realize that she's over both of the Salvatore brothers. Instead of falling into a deep sleep, I'd like her to move away from Mystic Falls, away from all the drama in order to continue her education and have a human life. Yes, she'll miss her friends, but I'd like her to mature and leave this toxic life behind.
