🇵🇱 🇷🇺 🇺🇦 🇩🇪 🇺🇸 #NEW According to the #Polish government, a Polish citizen has been arrested for providing intelligence to the #Russian government on #Ukrainian and foreign activity near the Rzeszow-Jasionka Airport in Eastern Poland. This airport is near the Polish-Ukrainian border and has been an influx point for Western aid entering Western Ukraine.

The purpose of collecting this intelligence was, according to the suspect’s testimony, to assassinate President #Zelensky during a visit to #Poland. The announcement from the Polish National Public Prosecutor’s Office reads below:

“According to the findings of the investigation, the suspect Pavel K. declared his readiness to act for the benefit of the military intelligence of the Russian Federation and established contacts with citizens of the Russian Federation directly involved in the war in Ukraine. One of his tasks was to collect and provide the military intelligence of the Russian Federation with information on the security of the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport. This was supposed to help Russian special services plan a possible attempt on the life of the head of a foreign state, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.”

This revelation comes the same day as several Russian agents were arrested in #Germany after plotting to sabotage #UnitedStates military infrastructure in that country.

This is the first arrest of an individual working accused with Russian security services of actively planning to assassinate the Ukrainian head of state, albeit rumors have persisted that the GRU and FSB have been looking for opportunities. Via theatlasnews.co

Reports of airstrike activity against IRGC and Iran-backed Shia militia targets around Baghdad, Iraq, and eastern Syria.

Unverified reports by Sky News Arab of explosions reported near Isfahan, Iran. So far there has not been any confirmation from official Iranian sources on this yet.

I mean this is quite obvious, but at least it’s confirmed

Initial reports suggesting an Iranian military installation near the Isfahan airport was hit.

Unclear what exactly was targeted tho. Could be a person or something related to their nuclear program

Iran state media reports that national airspace over Western Iran* has been closed

Iran previously warned of immediate retaliation in the event of Israeli strikes.

They warned of using a weapon never used against Israel before and my mind immediately goes to hypersonic weapons, but we won’t know if/until they respond to this

So let’s recap:

- Israel kills several high ranking IRGC officers during a strike against a consular annex located direct next to the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria, on April 1

- Iran responds by launching a large scale missile and drone attack against Israel almost two weeks later, minimal damage and at least one casualty reported

- Israel responds to this attack by striking what appears to be a single military base outside Isfahan, Iran. Damage assessment unknown at this time

- Iran previously vowed an immediate response if Israel carried out strikes inside Iran

Al-Arabia reporting that target was a facility used to launch drones used in the attack against Israel

Iran is denying anything was hit also

Could be a play to de-escalate and let things stand as they are

Iran state media releasing footage from Isfahan to show that there is no smoke from strikes, however, the footage is facing the mountains to the south while the strike reportedly happened near the airport to the north
