🇺🇸 An F-35 has crashed after taking off from Kirtland AFB in #Albuquerque, #NewMexico.

The exact cause of the crash remains unknown, reportedly, the plane was taking off to be serviced, flown by a defense contract management agency pilot.

The pilot ejected, with local KOB4 reporting that they have been taken to the hospital “conscious and breathing."” Via theatlasnews.co @AtlasNewsTelegram

The most recent previous crash of a U.S. F-35 occurred on Sept. 17, 2023, when a U.S. Marine Corps F-35B crashed in South Carolina after the pilot ejected due to a malfunction. The aircraft continued flying for about 60 miles before crashing in a field near Indiantown, South Carolina. The incident led to a day-long search for the wreckage, which was eventually found in a field.

Previously, on Dec. 15, 2022, an F-35B crashed during a vertical landing at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth in Texas. The F-35B involved in that crash was Lockheed-owned (hence not yet delivered to/accepted by the final customer). –The Aviationist

With at least 17 crashes while operated by various air forces, the plane has seen over 29 total crashes since introduction in 2006, with reportedly 10 destroyed planes and one pilot fatality.

In the past year, from May '23 to May '24, Lockheed Martin reported F-35 flight time increased from 660k to 840k hours, and sorties rose from 394k to 505k. Each plane costs an estimated $80 million to $100 million, with over 990 delivered in the past 17 years.

🇮🇱 🇵🇸 🇺🇸 #BREAKING According to US President Joe Biden, #Israel has proposed a "comprehensive" temporary ceasefire deal in #Gaza, #Palestine, which most notably includes the withdrawal of Israel's forces from Gaza for six weeks. “Israel has now offered a comprehensive new proposal. It’s a roadmap to an enduring ceasefire and the release of all hostages. This proposal has been transmitted by Qatar to Hamas,” Biden said.

The exact details of the ceasefire are not immediately clear, but they seem to be mostly akin to previous deals offered by Israel. The first phase of the ceasefire would last six weeks, see the release of some hostages, and see no Israeli military action during this time.

“This new proposal has three phases: The first phase would last for six weeks. It would include a full and complete ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas of Gaza, the release of a number of hostages including women, the elderly, the wounded in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners,” Biden said. "Additionally, some remains of hostages who have been killed will be returned to their families, bringing some degree of closure to the terrible grief. Palestinian civilians will return to their homes and neighborhoods in all areas of Gaza, including in the north; and humanitarian assistance would surge with 600 trucks carrying aid into Gaza every single day."

"During the six-week first phase, Israel and Hamas would “negotiate the necessary arrangements to get to phase two, which is a permanent end to hostilities,” Biden continued. Foreign hostages including Americans would be released at this stage as well.

Phase two would see the release of all remaining living Israeli hostages, including male soldiers, with the continued withdrawal of Israel during the process.

“Finally, in phase three, a major reconstruction plan for Gaza would commence, and the final remains of hostages who’ve been killed will be returned to their families,” Biden finished. “That’s the offer that’s now on the table.”

“As long as Hamas lives up to its commitments, the temporary ceasefire would become permanent." Biden added on, apparently quoting text from the deal.

The core difference between this new proposal and previous ones, is that Israel has now offered the withdrawal of all of its troops from Gaza during this time.

The complete withdrawal of Israeli forces has been demanded continually by #Hamas as a non-negotiable condition for any ceasefire deal. Previously, this has been refused by Israel, and so Israel relenting upon this aspect represents a major concession.

This concession notably comes after recent protests in Israel against #Netanyahu and the Israeli government’s perceived inability to secure the release of the remaining Israeli hostages still held within Gaza. Protestors, numbering in the thousands, have demanded the resignation of Netanyahu and a permanent ceasefire paired with a prisoner swap in order to release all remaining hostages, and end the war.

While this is a massive concession towards Hamas’ demands, there remains one core demand from Hamas that makes it uncertain if Hamas will accept Israel’s new deal. That being; Hamas demands a permanent ceasefire, not a temporary one.

In all of their recent proposals, and during negotiations, Hamas has demanded the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces as well as a permanent ceasefire.

In contrast, Israel has, until now, rejected the notion of a withdrawal, while remaining insistent that any ceasefire established be temporary.

Since the beginning of the war, Israel has clearly laid out through direct statements that its ultimate goal is the “destruction of Hamas,” as well as the release of all hostages. This goal prompts their rejection of a permanent ceasefire.

Hamas has yet to release a statement on Israel’s proposal, however President #Biden has urged Hamas to accept it. Via theatlasnews.co @AtlasNewsTelegram

Update: The Times of Israel reported that Biden was the one who laid out the current proposal that was greenlit, and that while the Israeli government has acknowledged a proposal, it was not clarified whether it was the same in exact detail as what Biden had presented since the statement didn't refer to Biden's speech at all.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said after the statement by Biden, “The Israeli government is united in the desire to return our hostages as soon as possible and is working to achieve this goal. Therefore, the prime minister authorized the negotiating team to present an outline for achieving this goal while insisting that the war will not end until all of its goals are achieved, including the return of all our hostages and the elimination of Hamas’ military and governmental capabilities. The exact outline proposed by Israel, including the conditional transition from stage to stage, allows Israel to maintain these principles.”

Asked by the TOI if "the deal described by Netanyahu’s office is the same one Biden laid out in his speech, a senior administration official briefing reporters avoids answering directly. 'I have no doubt that the deal will be characterized by Israel and will be characterized by Hamas, but we know what’s in the deal. We know what the expectations are,' the official says. 'Often these deals are characterized by those who might not want to see the deal,' the official says earlier on in the briefing."

Hamas' mouthpiece website has responded to U.S President Biden's recent statement about a temporary ceasefire proposal that he said was put forward and approved by Israel. The post appears to be an acknowledgment of the proposal, while reiterating their goals.

"The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas views positively what was included in US President Joe Biden’s speech today, 05/31/2024, in his call for a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction, and an exchange of prisoners. We consider this American position and the conviction that has been established on the regional and international scene The necessity of putting an end to the war on Gaza is the result of the legendary steadfastness of our struggling people and their valiant resistance.

The movement affirms its position of readiness to deal positively and constructively with any proposal based on a permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, reconstruction, the return of the displaced to all their places of residence, and the completion of a serious prisoner exchange deal if the occupation declares its explicit commitment to that."

🇺🇸 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 The #Biden administration has given #Ukraine the green light to carry out strikes inside of #Russia using #American-supplied weapons, but only in border areas along the new #Kharkiv front, Politico has reported citing an unnamed #UnitedStates official and two other people familiar with the matter. Blinken confirmed this after.

Up until now, Ukraine could only use American weapons to strike Russian forces inside of Ukraine. The decision, if confirmed, would mark a major policy turning point as several other nations push to allow for western-supplied to be used to strike Russian targets over the border, such as logistic hubs, weapon depots, and staging areas.

The official cited by Politico did stress, however, that the U.S. policy on not allowing Ukraine to use American weapons for strategic long-range strikes deep into Russia has not changed at this time. Via theatlasnews.co @AtlasNewsTelegram

🇺🇦 🇷🇺 In #Belgorod, #Ukrainian strikes came the morning June of 1st, TASS reported 60+ explosions from air defense and impacts. The Russian governor reported electricity was out for at least two villages, and some residential buildings were damaged slightly by debris from shoot downs reportedly.

Later, there were more air attack during tbe afternoon of June 1st local time, with two waves of #Ukrainian launches of around a dozen+ total drones and missiles, as well as reportedly GMLRS according to Russian tallies.

Russian air defense systems reportedly intercepted all launches, and no impacts or casualties were immediately reportedly by either state-run or local channels.

Russian channels alleged debris footage showed HIMAR GMLRS remnants, although it appears to match 155mm M26 components and submunitions. Around 20 explosions were reported over Belgorod and Bryansk regions across both waves of attacks.

Russian Ministry of Defense claimed "air defense shot down 14 Ukrainian UAVs, the Tochka-U operational-tactical missile, and the Neptune anti-ship missile over the Belgorod and Bryansk regions" @AtlasNewsTelegram

Mexico has elected frontrunner Claudia Sheinbaum as their first female president, following a campaign period scarred by criminal violence and the highest assassination rate of political candidates in the country’s history. She will take on a legacy of a militarized approach to drug cartels, violent crime, a migration crisis, and disputes with major trading partners, including the United States.

Here’s what you need to know.

In an election where the top two presidential candidates were both women, Mexico was all but guaranteed a female president. It was the biggest election in Mexico’s history, with every seat in Congress up for grabs, the presidency, and more than 19,000 state and local offices. HIMARS Hit #Belgorod: The deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament’s committee on national security, defense, and intelligence confirmed that Ukrainian strikes took place on June 2nd had damaged and destroyed S-300 and S-400 missile launcher systems, which are used by Russia to target both aerial vehicles in an air defense capacity and ground locations in the form of indirect bombardment. He also said United States-sent HIMARS launchers had been utilized to carry out the strikes.

The chairman, Yehor Chernev, said that the launchers had been destroyed in the Belgorod region, around 20 miles inside Russia. This comes only five days after the Biden Administration greenlit the allowance to use U.S. systems operated by Ukrainian forces to strike inside the border region of Russia in Belgorod.

This decision was announced after Russian ground invasion forces reopened a northern offensive from the Belgorod region into the Kharkiv region in the northeast of Ukraine. An extended bombing campaign from multiple Russian missile strikes and directed drone waves carrying explosive payloads has left several dozen Ukrainian civilians killed and wounded, as well as electrical infrastructure partially destroyed in Kharkiv city and the surrounding area in the past few weeks.
