🇮🇱 🇵🇸 The #IDF has announced there is to be a limited “tactical pause of military activity” for their operations surrounding a specific road within #Gaza, #Palestine. The pause, they said, is in order to facilitate the further entry of aid into Gaza.

The IDF announced the daily pause will occur from 08:00 to 19:00 local time each day, after having begun on Saturday. This pause is to occur solely along a vital roadway, the Salah al-Din Road, which begins at the Kerem Shalom crossing, a border crossing between Israel and Gaza, before continuing northwards to Khan Younis. The area under the pause ends at the European Hospital by Khan Younis.

The roadway is important in the distribution of aid in the surrounding region. This is particularly important as Khan Younis, and much of the surrounding area, has recently been designated as Gaza’s new ‘safe zone’ after #Israel’s offensive began upon #Rafah last month.

Importantly, the IDF clarified that this pause is not a ceasefire, and will not at all effect their operations in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. On Saturday, during these operations, eight IDF soldiers were killed after an ambush from Hamas. Three more soldiers were killed in fighting on Sunday.

The pauses come as continual reports surface from Gaza that virtually all of the population of over 2 million is suffering from ‘catastrophic’ levels of hunger and acute food insecurity, with a number of areas reported to have ‘famine-like’ conditions.

Data shows that the average amount of trucks entering Gaza per day, excluding fuel trucks was 97. This is a significant drop from April, when an average of 169 trucks were entering Gaza per day, which itself was a rise from March, when 139 trucks entered per day.

The drop in trucks is a direct consequence from the Israeli seizure of the Rafah crossing on May 7th. The Rafah crossing is a border crossing between Gaza and Egypt. It was the only crossing point into Gaza not controlled by Israel, and had been the primary entry point of aid into Gaza. Since its seizure by Israeli forces, the Rafah crossing has been closed, and the remainder of crossings controlled by Israel have failed to make up the difference.

According to Israeli media, several prominent government figures are not only opposed to the pause, but weren’t even told of it before it was enacted.

Neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant, the two remaining members with voting power in Israel’s ‘War Cabinet’, were told of the pause by the IDF beforehand. Netanyahu reportedly referred to the pause as “unacceptable.” Israeli National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, said whoever made the decision was a “fool,” who was “evil.”

🇮🇱 ⚠️ #Israel's War Cabinet Dissolved:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu has announced the end of his ‘War Cabinet’. He stated that the cabinet was being disbanded due to the withdrawal of the former Minister of Defense and opposition politician Benny Gantz.

Following Gantz’ resignation, Netanyahu and Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant were the only two remaining members with voting powers. Both Netanyahu and Gallant are members of the Likud party, making them completely dominant within the cabinet.

The effect that the disbandment of the cabinet will have on Israel’s decision-making process in the war is not immediately clear.

Notably, the disbandment follows National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s request to join the cabinet. Via theatlasnews.co @AtlasNewsTelegram

🇺🇦 🇨🇭 #Ukraine’s Peace Summit in Switzerland Concludes with Calls for Dialogue:

Ukraine's peace summit in Switzerland concluded with a communiqué emphasizing the necessity of dialogue among all conflict parties. The event, held in Bürgenstock near Lucerne, was attended by representatives from 100 of the over 160 invited countries and organizations. Notably, Russia was not invited, and China declined to participate despite Western efforts to secure its attendance.

🇷🇺 Prior to the summit, Russian President Vladimir #Putin had stated his conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine, which included the withdraw of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, and from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts. He also insisted that Ukraine renounce its plans to join NATO, and called for the lifting of Western sanctions against #Russia.

Ukrainian authorities and Western countries rejected these demands as unacceptable.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr #Zelenskiy stated that Russia is not ready for a fair peace, as evidenced by their demands for Ukraine to retreat from its own territories. He expressed Ukraine’s willingness to engage in direct talks if Russia withdraws from Ukrainian territories.

The final communiqué was signed by 80 out of 92 countries and four out of eight organizations present.

Out of the ten proposals put forward by Ukraine to achieve peace in the conflict with Russia, the communiqué only retains three: ensuring nuclear safety, addressing food security, and facilitating the exchange of prisoners along with the return of deported Ukrainian children, an issue that Zelenskiy highlighted, stating that nearly 20,000 children were taken from Ukraine by Russia.

The document stressed the importance of dialogue involving all parties and the continuation of cooperation at the advisor and minister levels. Preparations for the next summit are expected to be completed within months.

🇷🇺 🇺🇦 🇲🇾 🇳🇱 On July 17th 2014, #Russian-aligned seperatist forces in #Donetsk shot down civilian Boeing 777-200ER #Malaysian flight MH17, killing 283 passengers and 15 crew. MH17 was en route to #KualaLumpur from #Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport when it was shot down, near Hrabove in Donetsk Oblast, #Ukraine, 40 km (25 mi) from the border. Investigators concluded it was shot down by a Buk 9M83 surface-to-air missile transported from #Russia to seperatist forces in Donetsk not long before the downing of the aircraft.

The crew were all Malaysian, while over two-thirds (68%) of the passengers were #Dutch. Most of the other passengers were Malaysian and #Australian; the remainder were citizens of seven other countries. At least twenty family groups were on the aircraft and eighty passengers were under the age of 18.

Looters stole a variety of personal possessions and objects with value, but left behind some apparent undesirable items. #OTD

Among these unwanted items, a Minnie Mouse lunchbox, a Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal, family photographs, a child's diary, and intact passports, noted photojournalists at the scene.

As for what they took, wallets and credit cards were a favorite. A photojournalist at the scene said, "There isn't a single cellphone, wallet with money or camera to be found in any handbag or on the bodies. It's like they all mysteriously disappeared overnight."

Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's interior minister (who was also one of the first to blame pro-Russian separatists for the crash) reported that jewelry and credit cards were among the items being pilfered.

One Ukrainian woman living in Donetsk at the time came under the spotlight after she posted images on social media claiming to have obtained "Mascara from Amsterdam" as a result of looting.

Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has narrowed the missile launch site down to a specific field near the village of Pervomaiskyi, which was then in rebel hands. Near the village of Hrabove, where a large section of the Boeing 777 had come down, journalists soon found bodies scattered in the fields and a pile of suitcases by the side of the road already rifled through and items ransacked.

The intense heat from the crash had melted part of one of the wings, and a section of human backbone lay in the ashes among other remains.

Prosecutors played recordings from intercepted phone calls during their news conference.

They said witnesses reported seeing the missile launcher move from Russia into Ukraine and presented pictures and videos. The launch site was pinpointed by "many witnesses", prosecutors said.

🇷🇺 🇲🇾 🇳🇱 #Russia Terminates Cooperation With ICAO Council Case on 2014 #Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17:

The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced it is terminating cooperation with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) investigation into the 2014 shoot down of Malaysian Boeing MH17 flight over Eastern Ukraine. The reasoning behind the withdrawal reads below: "In the ICAO Council, let the Westerners and their satellites now deal with each other. We are ending our participation in this farce. Russia does not recognize the Council's authority to consider the planted stories of Australia and the Netherlands, as well as any decisions that will be made by them in connection with them."

The shoot down of the flight was concluded by Dutch investigators to have originated from Pro-Russian separatists in Donbas who were armed with a Russian Buk anti-air missile system without proper training or ability to identify aircraft types. Local seperatist militiamen posed over wreckage and looted belongings from bodies and suitcases shown in infamous pictures taken in the carnage of the mass killing. Two Russians and a Ukrainian separatist were sentenced in absentia for the murders.

298 passengers and crew were killed in the shoot down of the flight, notably 193 of them being Dutch.

The Russia Foreign Ministry had rejected the findings of the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) and the Dutch-led Joint Investigative Team (JIT) that was delegated investigative power by Ukraine. The country in which a civil aviation shootdown takes place retains the right to delegate the investigation, Ukraine chose to do that. However, the Russian Federation rejected this decision and demanded Russia jointly lead an investigation. Moscow cites the excerpt below from UN Security Council Resolution 2166 as reasoning to terminate cooperation. "efforts to establish a full, thorough and independent international investigation into the incident in accordance with international civil aviation guidelines" Moscow concluded that Western intelligence services infiltrated the investigation and lied about Russian involvement.

Withdrawal from the ongoing investigation changes little since the reports have already been submitted to ICAO. However, this does lay the legal groundwork for Russia to reject any further findings against it. Via theatlasnews.co @AtlasNewsTelegram
