WSJ further reported explosive materials were found in the shooters car.

“One local police officer climbed to the roof and encountered Crooks, who pointed his rifle at the officer. The officer retreated down the ladder, and Crooks quickly took a shot toward Trump,” AP reported.

Crooks was the shot and killed by Secret Service counter snipers approximately 10 seconds after he first opened fire.

This comes as witnesses previously told BBC and CBS that Crooks was spotted climbing onto the roof of a building outside the rally fairgrounds and attempts were made to warn law enforcement for several minutes before the shooting happened. #UnitedStates

This came after the #UnitedStates president called for the country to unite in brief remarks before the address tonight. He asked for people not to make assumptions about the #Trump rally shooter's motive and said he directed security measure increases for the RNC in Milwaukee, which will start on Monday. 

"An assassination attempt is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation.” he said on Sunday “It’s not who we are as a nation. It’s not American. And we cannot allow this to happen,” Biden continued “Unity is the most elusive goal of all, but nothing is more important than that right now.”

He also said he spoke to the former president and that they had a “short but good conversation," adding that he was grateful Trump was recovering. President Joe Biden said that he and the first lady, Jill Biden, were praying for the audience member killed by the shooter. “He was a father,” Biden said. “He was protecting his family from the bullets were being fired. God love him.”

Following Biden's remarks on the shooting Saturday, Trump posted “UNITE AMERICA!” on Truth Social.

“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote on Sunday. “I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.” Trump will be attending the Republic National Convention there.

The condemnation follows the adoption of the “Guidelines for Nuclear Deterrence and Nuclear Operations on the Korean Peninsula” by South Korea and the United States in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. This document aims to significantly expand the deployment of U.S. strategic assets on the Korean Peninsula during both wartime and peacetime.

“The DPRK Ministry of National Defence strongly denounces and rejects the reckless provocative act of the U.S. and the ROK (Republic of Korea) that pushes the regional military tensions to extremes through extremely incendiary and malicious rhetoric and provocative action,” the spokesperson declared.

The North Korean official further stated that the allies’ “provocative behavior” is the “root cause of endangering regional security” and necessitates North Korea to “further improve its nuclear deterrent readiness and add important elements to the composition of the deterrent.” The spokesperson warned against committing further acts of provocation, cautioning that ignoring this warning would result in “an unimaginably harsh price.”

In contrast, South Korea’s ruling People Power Party (PPP) praised the joint nuclear deterrence guidelines, describing them as a strong deterrent against North Korea’s provocations. PPP spokesperson Ho Jun-seok highlighted the restored mutual trust between South Korea and the United States under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration, which he claimed has become a potent deterrent against North Korea’s reckless actions.
