Eyes will be on Baghdad again tonight for the two year anniversary of Soleimani’s death.

Thousands of PMU militia members and supporters have begun marching to Baghdad’s airport to commemorate the two year anniversary of the assassinations of IRGC Major General Qasem Soleimani and PMU Deputy Chief Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who were killed by an American drone strike on January 3, 2020. Threat levels remain high across the country, namely in the Green Zone, as Iranian-backed militia forces have threatened attacks against American forces in Iraq in 2022. Rocket attacks are expected, which have become a staple in PMU tactics over the past two years.
