- there's been warnings about X class solar flares for decades. How many remember the incident which hit near Montreal, Quebec in the 1980s which took down a larger section of the NorthEastern Seaboard Coast?

I had an uncle who was working with NJ P&E, as a lineman, was part of the repair crew sent from NJ to help restore services; same type of crews seen post hurricanes and other natural disasters.

X Class Solar Flare Temporarily Knocks Out Global Telecommunications
@takebackourtech
The world just got hit with the strongest class of solar flare (X Class), leading to temporary telecom disruptions in multiple countries. The flare had a strength of only X1.9, relatively minor compared to a solar storm like the Carrington event (X45) which caused a global blackout in the 1800s.
Here's a map of the most impacted locations in the US, looks like widespread issues with all carriers.
