Lost in the speculation shuffle is something few people are considering.
If Biden were NOT to be the nominee this fall (long odds), Kamala Harris is the single biggest “oh sh*t” factor they have. The Democrat narrative that controls the young and the woke, and the urban feminist, is that they are the party of the minority, and the party of women.
To simply pass over the unelectable Harris will be so problematic for them there is no way any other replacement will be able to hold their entire base, inflicting devastation even with electoral fraud that was so large in 2020 it almost certainly can’t be replicated at that scale.
If and when she is passed over without a glance, she would create so much victimhood resentment and follow-up chaos that it will sever their entire feelings-based coalition, especially if a white man like Newsom is the go-to.
They own this albatross and there is no easy way out.

It is not impossible for Biden to be replaced. But that window is slamming shut very quickly, and there is no way to swap him without major damage to anyone and the entire splitting of the Dem coalition.
If he isn’t swapped almost imminently, it will cost the Dems Nevada and Wisconsin by default.
The Occams Razor pick is that Biden will be the nominee. All other options trail substantially in likelihood.
