Following today’s meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Biden’s Envoys on Middle Eastern Affairs, Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk; the Chance of a Peaceful Settlement in Lebanon is said to have Drastically Decreased. Hochstein, who was initially meant to travel to Beirut after the meeting, will instead return to the United States.

The New York Times: Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei directed the Supreme National Security Council on Monday to prepare for an attack on Israel, three Iranian officials familiar with war planning said.
• The sources said that Khamenei made the decision after reviewing a detailed report by senior military commanders on the extent of the damage
• Khamenei said in the hearings that the scale of the Israeli attack, as well as the number of casualties - the killing of at least four army soldiers - was too great to ignore, and that not responding meant admitting defeat, according to the three sources.
• The sources said that the reaction is not expected before the US election because Khamenei does not want to help Trump, who may benefit from escalation.
