Per a source close to the US census, i can say personally, with CERTAINTY that this court decision is simply halting any FURTHER extensions. The Census counting was extended to Sept 24th due to COVID. However a SECOND extension was granted and pushed to October 5th. Democrats sued to try to force counting through October 31st & the administration counter sued. The Supreme Court agreed with the Trump
Admin.

The Democrats want to drag out counting as long as possible because of flight from New York, Illinois & California to Red States, and the fear that they are likely to lose house seats. Longer counting equals higher totals equals better chances for keeping those seats. This is also why the D’s are trying so hard (and failing) to turn Texas blue.
