Drop the two bombs, or sacrifice the lives of over 1 million US soldiers & 1/3 to 1/2 the Japanese population? Ultimately, the use of the two bombs, horrific as it was, saved millions of lives. It was the only real choice in a terrible war. How terrible? Look up ‘bataan death march, japanese POW treatment, rape of nanking, & Unit 731’. The reality is, the bombs were necessary.
