That story of what these pricks did to Gaetz's acquaintances goes FAR BEYOND defamation. That was attempted extortion. Both of them should be sued for this.

"Give me what I want, become a source for my story that you saw Gaetz do this crime, or I"m gonna put YOUR NAME in this story and I'll implicate you too!" That's extortion. Oh the Mother Jones editor had a nice talk with Phelan about his tactics, did he? He should be FIRED at the very least for this. I hope Gaetz and his friends sue these rags for millions of dollars.

You realize CNN, Washington Post and other media outlets have LOST defamation cases recently, right? I'm pretty sure James O'Keefe is going to win his cases against Twitter, CNN and the NYT's. But folks, what these reporters did here is far worse than simply lying about what somebody did. They made an OFFER to the person. "Do this or I will defame you." And they freaking dumb enough to do this by text message. SUE THEIR ASSES.

And now "reporters" from some of the worst of these media outlets are getting exposed leaving behind direct evidence of their threatening people with defamation if they don't agree to help the reporter with the fake story they're trying to get published. If I'm a lawyer, I'm jumping at the chance to represent these Gaetz acquaintances. This would be easy money.
