The FBI knew it was breaking the law to launch politically motivated investigations and actively lied to and hid facts from oversight.

Wait, the story that's been told is that the FBI had no idea who Christopher Steele's Primary Sub Source [PSS] for his dossiers Trump/Russia collusion allegations was until JANUARY OF 2017, when they finally sat him down for an interview and began trying to VERIFY the information in the SURVEILLANCE WARRANT they had gotten from the FISA Court back in October of 2016 - three months previously. Make a note of that - the FBI hadn't talked to Igor Danchenko, the PSS before using allegations that supposedly came from him in the Carter Page warrant that allowed the feds to begin spying on the Trump campaign before the 2016 election.

That's not how this is supposed to work, of course, as DOJ IG Michael Horowitz demonstrated in his exhaustive report about Crossfire Hurricane in Dec. 2019. The FBI is supposed to put only verified evidence in a FISA warrant, stuff they can back up. Nobody verified this Steele dossier stuff that supposedly had come to Steele via Danchenko before it was used in the Carter Page warrant. Only when the spy warrant was up for it's first renewal in January of 2017 did two FBI agents belatedly track Danchenko down and try to verify the allegations that had been used to get a warrant that was already in force.

So the story is, they had waited until January 2017 to talk to Danchenko because they didn't know he was Steele's PSS for his dossier stuff. But wait! THERE'S MORE! When the FBI finally gets around to talking to Danchenko about the dossier allegations he supposedly handed off to Christopher Steele, guess what happens? Danchenko strongly disavows the allegations, says the people he talked to only gave him vague stories and they weren't the 'high up Russian gov't sources' that Steele was claiming to the FBI and the news media.

All the people Danchenko had supposedly gotten those 'rumors' and 'stories' from told the FBI he was lying - they never passed on any stories about pee tapes or massive bribes being offered to Carter Page in Moscow. https://twitter.com/FOOL_NELSON/status/1407092547848114182?s=20

But the FBI told the FISA court all of these allegations were true to best if their knowledge, there was no exculpatory evidence or reason to believe otherwise, & swore to it under oath to get the most powerful surveillance warrant there is to target the President’s campaign & later the sitting US President by extension.

The signed statements provided to investigators have no wiggle room whatsoever. Each of the four sources used specific and categoric language to deny they provided Danchenko with any of these stories.

Halper is the FBI CI that was surreptitiously taping both Carter Page and George Papadopoulos over the summer of 2016, trying to catch them saying something incriminating that the FBI could use to get a spy warrant, and failing. When the taping gambit failed, the FBI was forced to move to Plan B - using the Steele dossier as their basis to spy on the Trump campaign.

And now? Now we know Steele's work was utter shit. It was all fake. Nobody seems to know where he really got any of this stuff he handed to the FBI and the news media, stuff that was used to get a spy warrant on Trump & his campaign associates as well as launching a Trump/Russia collusion scandal in the mainstream press.

Now we know both Danchenko and his supposes sources have told investigators where ever Steele got this crap, it didn't come from them. And now we learned this also today: Durham is hot on the trail of both Steele and Glenn Simpson, the founder of Fusion GPS, who is also involved in all these dossier shenanigans up to his freaking eyeballs.
