Can Progressive Media Smell Their Own Hypocrisy? - Russia Is Censoring the Internet, With Coercion and Black Boxes (New York Times)

On March 10, Twitter users in Russia suddenly experienced a sharp slowdown in the service.

Russian authorities wanted Twitter to remove more than 3,000 “illegal” posts, which human rights groups saw as an effort to stifle dissent.

When Twitter did not comply, the government was ready. It deployed a new technology so it could do the job itself.

Comment: How can the New York Times publish an article criticizing Russian efforts to censor Twitter and the Internet, even as they choose to completely ignore the burgeoning censorship of conservative voices on Facebook, Twitter, Google, Amazon, and other major platforms in the United States.

The stench of hypocrisy is rank.

"“It’s striking that this hasn’t gotten the attention of the Biden administration,” said Michael McFaul, the former American ambassador to Russia in the Obama administration. He criticized Apple, Facebook, Google and Twitter for not speaking out more forcefully against Russia’s policies.

"A White House spokeswoman said the administration has discussed freedom of expression online with the Russian government and also called on the Kremlin to 'stop its pressure campaign to censor critics.'"

There are Democrats in Congress now calling for more censorship of social media and for further crackdowns on conservative critics of the government. There is active censorship and banning of accounts across our media and social media on the topics of the coronavirus, rioting and looting in our cities, and the teaching of critical race theory in our schools.

The stench of hypocrisy is rank.

I cannot believe nobody in the New York Times pressroom raised his, her, their, or zer nose in the air and detected the amazing scent this article gives off. And Vladimir Putin is smiling as he reads this article this morning.

Judge Alison Nathan said she would balance the need for juror privacy with the First Amendment right of access.

What has been consistently reported is that there was no union Armorer on set. And it doesn’t seem like the other safety precautions, such as plexiglass barriers, were followed either.

Here we go.
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments in the DOJ v Texas heartbeat abortion law case.

Notable: It takes 4 justices to agree to hear a case, but it takes 5 to overturn a lower court ruling or issue a Temporary Restraining Order.

It seems the court has enough justices willing to take up the case, but not enough to overturn the law or issue a TRO, thus the bill remains in effect pending a final ruling.
