#NATSEC i disagree with the assertion that the SECNAV is responsible & needs to resign: this problem is CULTURAL & INSTITUTIONAL with they Navy- the Ford class carriers, and the Zumwalt destroyers and issues w Columbia class missile tubes are symptoms of NAVSEASYStems problems AND CONTRACTOR ABUSE & MALFEASANCE.
The contractors arent held accountable for two reasons: right footing them w the bill for the failures would bankrupt them and we cant- because 30 yrs of post cold war defense budget slashes put nearly all shipbuilders out of biz and its now a monopoly market.
This isnt SECNAVs fault- this is Congress’s fault.
And there’s no easy fix. So far the course of action is to throw money at the problem w no return on investment.
So how do we fix this now??

And this program is quickly turning into a repeat of the Ford & Zumwalt class clusterfucks. The Navy Shipbuilding program AS A WHOLE needs to suspend development of ALL NEW classes until its fixed, with exception of Columbia class SSBNs which are based on Virginia class boats that are proven.
