Twitter was also taking direction from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to censor the free speech of average people, and even celebrities like actor and conservative commentator James Woods.
It's hard to make the case these are not unreported, in-kind campaign donations.

Matt Taibbi notes, apparently the Trump White House had access to these tools as well and made their own requests. But the advantage went overwhelmingly towards the Democrats.
I'm not sure exactly who in the White House was making the requests because Trump was constantly being undermined by his own administration. But it was really dumb and probably undercuts his arguments regarding Twitter's actions.
