These were the first photos of Teddy, taken an hour after the 3-hour drive home from the shelter i adopted him from. There’s just something special about a dog who’s been abandoned when realizes he/she is *home* he/she is *safe* & he/she is *loved*. Teddy knew right away, but for some it takes time, patience & LOTS of love, & gentleness. It is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. ❤️

For the first three months this is how, & where he slept. It’s where he felt safe, & comfortable. Now, he is more independent. He actually sleeps in his own heated dog bed underneath mine. He’s a cuddle bug but he also has an independent side to him. He likes his space. One of the really fascinating parts of rescuing dogs is watching them come out of their shell & seeing their real personality little by little emerge as they adjust from survival mode to realizing they can just be a dog.
